The Safety Director develops and oversees our organization's health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance with OSHA regulations, as well as state, local, and industry-specific standards. The Safety Director will conduct regular safety audits and implement programs to maintain a safe workplace, optimizing protocols for safety equipment, emergency preparedness, and occupational safety. Additionally, this role will establish a process for collecting and analyzing accident data, generating required reports, and driving initiatives to prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and long-term health risks across 5 manufacturing facilities, 2 rebuild facilities, and 29 service branch locations.This is a full-time, permanent position that will require travel, onsite visits, and after-hour consultations. Therefore, hours and schedule will vary depending on position demands. Travel expected to be 50% - 70%.Reports To: Chief Operating OfficerResponsibilities:Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Design, implement, and enforce company-wide health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and other industry-specific regulations.Conduct Safety Audits and Inspections: Regularly inspect job sites, service locations, and facilities to ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the safe operation of cranes and other equipment.Implement, Train, and Enforce a Root Cause Analysis program to be used across the company.Training and Education: Develop and conduct safety training sessions for employees, including crane operators, technicians, and field service staff, to promote a strong safety culture.Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards and risks related to crane operations, inspections, and repairs. Implement corrective actions and safety procedures to mitigate risks.Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into any accidents, incidents, or near-misses. Prepare reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all safety practices meet federal, state, and local regulations. Stay updated on OSHA, ANSI, and other industry standards, and implement any necessary changes. Maintain compliance with all customer required safety network affiliations.Safety Equipment Management: Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and availability of safety equipment, such as PPE, fall protection, and rigging gear, in all job sites and company facilities.Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for each branch and manufacturing location to ensure that all employees are trained in emergency procedures.Collaborate with Operations: Work closely with operations, project managers, and crane service teams to integrate safety protocols into daily operations and project planning.Monitor Safety Performance: Track and report key safety performance metrics, including injury rates, near-miss incidents, and compliance records.Requirements3+ years of experience as a Safety Director a MUST5-7 years Heavy Industrial experience a MUSTOSHA 500 Certification is a MUST3-5 years Overhead Crane experience Major PLUSCertified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Crane Inspector, or other relevant certifications are a PLUSExpert knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, ASME standards and practicesExperience in writing safety procedures and standard operating proceduresCertification in a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) System preferredExtensive knowledge of safety and health hazards.Technical SkillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Teams, Excel, Power Point, Share PointProficiency in safety management software and reporting tools. Soft Skills:Excellent communication and leadership skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to train and educate employees on safety standards and protocolsExperience conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessmentsKey CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and commitment to safetyAbility to influence and promote a safety-first culture across all levels of the organizationCapacity to stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices in industrial safetyHands-on approach and willingness to be actively involved in fieldworkEducation: Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
