Summary: The Business & Community Development Manager will work directly with the Chief Experience Officer to develop and identify new business opportunities from various target markets, develop strategies, and build relationships that lead to member growth and overall financial wellness. The Business & Community Development Manager should be self-motivated, a team player, and employ excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. The Manager must be a people-person and enjoy leading presentations, educating consumers on financial wellness, participating in networking groups, and sourcing opportunities in the community to increase membership growth. Outstanding member service and relationship building skills are also important in this role, as a key component is to identify opportunities to promote the credit union and increase membership growth within the network of SEGs and various community groups/partners.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.· Responsible for developing policies, procedures and processes for the business and community development functions of the credit union.· Maintains a wide variety of contacts both inside and outside the credit union, coordinating business/community development activities, promoting services, exchanging information, and representing the credit union at civic, trade functions and professional organizations.Maintain familiarity with and follow all policies, procedures and processes which have been established in order to meet compliance requirements of all applicable federal regulations. The regulations include but are not limited to the Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. CC and Patriot Act.Essential Functions in Business DevelopmentOrganizes and coordinates visits to Select Employee Group work sites for presentations and membership drives.Conducts membership drives, benefit fairs, etc. at existing SEGs, serving as our "branch on the road." Open new memberships onsite at these onboardings as much as possible. Also approaches new SEGs and schools to have on-site credit union presentations and information tables.Develops and manages SEG Ambassador Program.Opens Accounts: Must possess the skills to open all types of credit union accounts and make loan referrals. Analyze member needs. Cross-sells and orders appropriate products and services completely and accurately.Organizes and coordinates growth and penetration tactics as the credit union expands its field of membership.Maintains Business Development Online Calendar.Coordinates the distribution of all monthly and holiday business development materials provided to our Select Employee Groups.Coordinates the distribution of all supply requests (Swag, Join brochures, or Announcement posters) to/from our Select Employee Groups.Serves as a representative in professional, business, and community organizations to promote credit union services.Sets up and represents the credit union at any SEG or community event and coordinates opportunities for others to participate.Coordinates and processes paperwork for any new Select Employee Groups.Plans and coordinates Select Employee Group special events.· Measures and reports the impact of SEG and community business partner activities and outreach program activities.· Collaborates with internal member service, loan and marketing departments for sales opportunities.Showcases the newest promotions and marketing initiatives that the credit union offers.Prepares reports and information on activities and ensures that management is informed of all member development activities and objectives.Assists in the planning and facilitation of various marketing events and programs.Prepares and monitors business & community development budget.Owns the relationship with prospects and current SEG/Partner Groups; drives the entire sales cycle, manages questions/BD processes, and pursues opportunities to expand scope and services.Essential Functions in Community DevelopmentLeads all aspects of the credit union's Financial Wellness/Literacy Program both with existing members and potential members within the community.Leads and/or coordinates the CDFI documentation process and all associated reporting requirements.Provides direction, seeks out and manages all grant opportunities and reporting requirements and works alongside vendors who help obtain grants for the CU.Becomes a certified financial counselor through credit union's certification program/process and coordinates with other counselors for coverage of any financial wellness event/seminar.· Networks with other financial institutions, CDFIs and social agencies to identify best practices for serving the disadvantaged or unbanked.· Analyzes, measures, tracks and reports data to ensure compliance of grant requirements and funds used for community development.· Possesses strong lending skills and experience. · Develops strategies for maintaining an active network of business partners in the non-profit, local government and small business community. Promotes the credit union and the products and services available with these partners. Serves as liaison with these partners.· Drives community development activities that align with the credit union's short- and long-term goals and the CDFI designation, ensuring programs and services are sustainable, either from direct program revenue or indirect revenue (grants).· Closely monitors performance of community development / low-income designated loan and product portfolios to achieve a high-quality and profitable asset base. Provides feedback to senior management on trends and performance.· Coordinates and delivers presentations to promote the credit union's community programs, products and services.· Conducts financial education with community organizations, the faith community, employers, city leaders, formal education programs, human service agencies, and other similar organizations and agencies that support the local community.· Prepares and delivers financial education workshops to members and non-members that can include evenings and weekends as needed.· Provides one-on-one financial education to membership as appropriate.· Ensures the community development efforts are focused in the primary impact areas of housing, transportation, education, asset/credit building, outreach and collaboration.· Has active participation in local Chamber of Commerce groups, Economic Development Corporations, and other local organizations.· Assists in leading and continually be an active participant in all the Gold Coast CARES Community Service initiatives.
