Director of Fixed Assets and LeasesPosition OverviewResponsible for leading the fixed asset and lease accounting functions while ensuring compliance with GAAP, including ASC 842 lease accounting standards. This role oversees the coordination of capital expenditure processes through AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) management.Key ResponsibilitiesFixed Asset ManagementDirect the accounting and reporting of all fixed assets, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, and disposalOversee monthly close processes related to fixed assets, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reportingMaintain fixed asset subledger and ensure integration with general ledgerLead physical inventory processes and asset verification programsMonitor construction in progress (CIP) and manage timely asset capitalizationsLease AdministrationOversee lease accounting operations and compliance with ASC 842 standardsManage lease portfolio including real estate, equipment, and other leased assetsReview and approve lease classifications, modifications, and terminationsEnsure accurate lease payment processing and liability calculationsCoordinate with Real Estate and Operations teams on lease mattersAFE CoordinationDevelop and maintain AFE policies and proceduresReview and validate capital expenditure requestsCoordinate AFE approval process across multiple stakeholdersTrack project spending against approved AFEsProvide regular reporting on capital spending and project statusEnsure proper capitalization of completed projectsLeadership & AnalysisManage and develop fixed asset accounting team, including with offshore supportProvide analysis of capital spending and asset utilizationCollaborate with external auditors during annual auditsDevelop and maintain documentation of processes and controlsIdentify and implement process improvements and automation opportunitiesQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance10+ years of accounting experience with 5+ years in fixed asset accountingStrong knowledge of US GAAP and lease accounting standardsASC 842 experienceExperience with ERP systems and fixed asset softwareAdvanced Excel skillsPreferredCPA certificationMaster's degree in Accounting or related fieldBackground in manufacturing or retail industriesProject management experienceSkills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDetail-oriented with strong organizational capabilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesLeadership and team development experienceProcess improvement mindset
