They specialize in efficiently managing the movement of goods across the supply chain, offering end-to-end transportation solutions for a variety of industries. With a strong reputation for reliability and excellence, we are seeking an experienced Vice President of Operations to oversee and optimize our operational strategy, ensuring continued growth, efficiency, and profitability.Position Summary: The Vice President of Operations will play a key leadership role in overseeing all operational functions within the company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in intermodal and drayage logistics, a proven track record of managing large, asset-based fleets, and a strategic mindset to drive continuous improvement. This is a high-level executive role that will require hands-on leadership, collaboration across departments, and the ability to innovate while maintaining the highest standards of safety, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the operational strategy for the company to support growth and profitability objectives.Fleet Management: Oversee the management and optimization of a fleet of 300 trucks, ensuring optimal utilization, cost control, and maintenance.Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement across all areas of operations, including route planning, scheduling, driver performance, and resource allocation.P&L Responsibility: Manage the P&L for the operations division, identifying areas for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and revenue growth.Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a team of operational managers, dispatchers, and other staff, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and safety.Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety, regulatory, and environmental standards, including DOT regulations and local laws. Implement and maintain best practices in driver safety and compliance.Customer Relationship Management: Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, address operational concerns, and improve service offerings.Technology & Innovation: Leverage technology solutions to improve operational efficiency, streamline processes, and enhance visibility across the supply chain.Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular reporting to the executive team on key operational metrics, financial performance, and areas for improvement.Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior operations management within the intermodal and/or drayage industry.Strong leadership experience managing large, asset-based fleets (300+ trucks).Proven track record in improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and driving profitability.Deep knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L, budgets, and operational KPIs.Experience with technology platforms, fleet management software, and dispatch systems.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining focus on long-term strategic goals.Preferred Skills:Previous experience working in a fast-growing company or during periods of operational scale.Strong understanding of both intermodal and drayage logistics, including port and rail operations.Experience with labor relations and union environments.Ability to drive change and lead cross-functional teams.Benefits:Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.Comprehensive health benefits.401(k) with company match.Paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay.Professional development and growth opportunities.
