Our Client is seeking qualified applicants for a Senior Construction Inspector to work as a project team member to support a large underground construction project for the city of Joliet. The successful candidate will work on challenging and diverse tasks in a consulting and construction management role that will require application of technical skills.Your role will be to assist the client and Resident Engineer (RE), to observe and record activities associated with the Contractor's construction progress in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will need to be self-directed, capable of independent tasks as well as supporting multidiscipline complex teams, and should demonstrate a passion for involvement in the civil construction industry with an enthusiasm for successful completion of projects that meet our clients' need.Your Key ResponsibilitiesRead, interpret, and comprehend all Contract Documents, such as plan drawings, standard drawings, Contractor shop drawings, standard specifications, and project special provisions.Perform daily inspection of construction work to ensure compliance with Contract Documents.Monitor materials installed by Contractor(s) to ensure compliance with Contract Documents.Perform daily documentation of all work performed by Contractor(s) as required by Client standards.Review Contractor's shop drawing submittals to ensure compliance with Contract Documents.Monitor Contractor installed Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) on daily basis.Visit and safely traverse construction and project sites while complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.Available to work occasional evenings, nights, and weekends when required.Perform all other duties as assigned by Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager.RequirementsApplicant shall have previous experience construction inspection.Demonstrates proficiency in all competencies of previous job level.The Construction Inspector will work in the field at a project site as needed. Applicant will be required to work in a manner that ensures personal safety as well as the safety of fellow employees by following project and company health and safety guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.Understand and interpret contract documents for a designated Work Package for a specific construction activity.Ability to effectively discuss project issues with phase III team and the client.Positive attitude, good energy, and proven passion.Valid U.S. driver's licenseEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management; technical 2-year degree/diploma/certificate in a related program; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Prefer degree in construction management or professional discipline specific field from an accredited institution.Experience: Minimum of 7 year of experience
