This is a 10 week Summer internship for 2025. Expected start date is late June 2nd through August 8th, 2025. This role is 40 hrs / week and will be at least 3 days onsite. This summer, we are seeking a motivated intern to contribute to our UDX project, a Python-based solution for processing and analyzing assay data from laboratory information systems (LIMS).What You'll DoAs a Summer Intern, you will work with our team to enhance and maintain the UDX project. This project interfaces with LIMS databases, processes configuration files, and generates outputs for trending data. Your responsibilities will include:Code Analysis & Optimization: Understand and improve the current script for efficiency and scalability.Feature Implementation: Add new features to support additional assay types or data configurations.Database Interaction: Write and debug SQL queries integrated into the Python script to fetch and process assay data.Data Transformation: Work on transforming raw database outputs into meaningful, organized outputs (such as JSON) for further analysis.Error Handling: Enhance exception handling and logging mechanisms for more robust performance.Collaboration: Work with team members and multiple different cross-functional teams to ensure code quality and alignment with project goals.What We're Looking ForGraduate student currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, computer engineering, data science, data analytics or Related Field: Or equivalent experience. (MUST BE ACTIVELY ENROLLED IN ACADEMIC PROGRAM) Proficient in Python: Familiarity with libraries like sqlalchemy, io, and simplejson is a plus.Database Skills: Understanding of SQL and experience interacting with relational databases.Problem Solving: Analytical skills to debug, enhance, and test code functionality.Knowledge of Git/Bitbucket: Comfortable working with version control systems.Data Transformation Experience: Familiarity with JSON or similar data formats is beneficial.Team Player: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.QualificationsProficiency in writing, debugging, and optimizing Python scripts.Experience with relational databases and SQL. Ability to write and debug queries to interact with large datasets.Understanding of database sessions and transaction handling.Familiarity with data transformation, especially using JSON. Experience working with structured data, including fetching, mapping, and organizing it.Version Control: Knowledge of Git and Bitbucket for managing codebase and collaboration.Exposure to LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) or similar database systems.Familiarity with handling assay configurations or laboratory workflows.Experience with JSON file generation and validationstudents will be employed by Randstad and assigned to MilliporeSigma
