Senior Firmware Engineer

Location: San Jose, California (Hybrid - 2-3 days on-site, specifically Tuesday and Wednesdays)Role Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Research And Development Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hard disk drive (HDD) technology and extensive experience in embedded firmware development. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge HDD technology in a collaborative and tight-knit team environment, with growth opportunities within the technical ladder up to the fellow level.Key Responsibilities:Develop embedded firmware and implement algorithms in areas of performance, including caching and controller firmware, to ensure meeting product specification and customer requirements.Apply statistical and data analysis techniques, including model simulation, to identify and address complex issues.Evaluate and troubleshoot problems encountered during firmware development and testing.Prepare design documents and conduct thorough design and code reviews.Communicate effectively and work closely with remote development teams.Requirements:12+ years of relevant experience in embedded firmware development, with preference for candidates with HDD experience.Expertise in C and C++.Background in simulation, especially caching behavior and new algorithms for performance improvement.Strong analytical, programming, and problem-solving skills.Experience with hard drive technology and controller firmware.Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.Bachelor's in engineering, M.S or PhD preferred.Compensation:Base Salary: $132,400 - $178,800Bonus: 10% bonus eligibility, paid out twice a fiscal year based on goals and performanceNo relocation package offered
