Brief Description of Work:Under the general direction of the AVP of MarCom and Customer Experience, the Director of Communications is a strategic and tactical manager acting as a trusted advisor to JTA. It is a critical role that will work closely across all departments to foster a culture of collaborative communication and messaging, both internally and externally, for JTA. The position will also develop and execute comprehensive communication plans, evaluate, and advise on CEO communication requests, opportunities, executive speech writing and presentation preparation. The position will manage a team of three members of the multi-media team and three professional service contracts. Essential Functions:Oversee the development and execution of internal and external communication plans, designed to support the Authority's overall business objectives, including Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center at Lavilla (JRTC), JTA MobilityWorks, U2C, ridership campaigns and other major projects and programs of the Authority. Development of executive briefing materials, presentations and keynote addresses, video scripts, social media management and other communications, as needed. Create new communications programs designed to advance the Authority's priorities and focus areas. Develop the processes, tools and resources to scale the communications function and meet future needs. Complete all mandatory training classes Review and comply with all JTA policies, procedures and directivesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Public Administration Minimum of 5 to 10 years progressive experience, including senior level functional leadership responsibility. Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Public Administration Experience in government sectorPast transportation or logistics experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of:JTA's 12 Leadership Characteristics Federal/state/local regulations related to the use of public funds Principles of Business letter writing and report preparation Community relations tactics and methodsSkills:Excellent customer service skillsStrong communication skills, both orally and in writing Strong organizational, analytic and strategic-thinking skills Time-management skills and ability to multi-taskAbility to:Create concrete methods, strategies and goals using complex plansDevelop and nurture relationships that culminates into overall successA track record of good budget management and financial responsibilityConduct and utilize research to influence stakeholders and target marketsWork Environment/Physical Demands:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
