The Grid Integration business is experiencing tremendous growth in EV charging systems, high voltage direct current projects, power consulting, power quality solutions, semiconductors, and many other exciting offerings in North America.The Mechanical Project Engineer will join our Grid & Power Quality Solutions (GPQS) team. GPQS is working with Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS). FACTS technology enables power system owners to increase capacity in the existing electric power system while improving electrical stability. As a result, more power reaches the customer with a minimal environmental impact and at lower investment costs compared to alternative solutions.Your Responsibilities:Engineering development: Ensuring that engineering is developed with complete information and/or that all multidisciplinary information has been included.Leading development of new solutions for complex projects and challenges.Driving completion of all engineering activities on the project.Coordinating the mechanical engineering discipline across several projects.Providing technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.Creating work plans and cost estimates. Reviewing and approving scope, budget and, schedule for assignments, and ensuring quality deliverables.Interacting directly with customers, officials, contractors, and supply chain.Explaining facts, policies, and practices related to job area.Working with the electro-mechanical or primary/physical design for our Power Quality Solutions, supporting both tenders and projects.Developing base and detailed design documents and drawings based on customer requirements, as well as local and global standards for station and building layouts, cable trench and conduit layout, grounding, and lightning protection layouts, along with necessary calculations to support.3D modeling of plant in Revit.Collaborating with colleagues both locally and globally and close coordination with multiple disciplines (System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Civil Engineering).Technical review and discussion with customers, suppliers, and subcontractorsEnsuring adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risksCompleting risk and opportunity assessments and ensuring implementation of resulting actions in one's area of responsibility.Reviewing and coordinating with vendor/supplier drawings for mechanical deliverables including primary equipment.Evaluation of sub-supplier and selection as per project requirements.Involvement in developing and supporting activities for continuous process improvements.Preparation of As-Built DrawingsManage and coordinate the Mechanical Engineering for a given project, including, but not limited to, the following:Project design criteriaReview of station general arrangement and layoutMaterial and equipment specificationsEquipment documentation reviewsDevelopment of sub-contractor Scope of Work (SoW) documentsWorks with other team members in reviewing the engineering generated documentation to ensure that it is in general compliance with the applicable project guidelines, customer specifications, governing national standards, and sound engineering judgment before it is subjected to the Customer approval processAnalyze sub-contractor bid responses for inconsistencies, oversights, and mistakesLiving Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.Your Background: Bachelor of Science Mechanical/Electrical EngineeringMinimum of 5 years of relevant experienceIn-depth knowledge the of National Electric Code and ANSI/IEEE requirementsKnowledge of FACTS and/or high-voltage substations is a must.Experience in plant design specifically with HV transmission substation solutionsExperience with BIM / Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)Experience in Revit - 3D Modeling is a must.Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.Professional Engineering License or ability to obtainTeam contributor using in-depth knowledge in a specific area to execute complex or specialized projects / challenges often thinking independently to challenge traditional solutions.Works both in teams and independently, applying established local & global standardsGood communication skillsDynamic and Proactive, willing to take the challenges and grow in the organizationHigh level of ownership & accountability
