Four Corners Property Trust (FCPT) is seeking an exceptional candidate to join their team as a generalist Attorney. This role will be an integral part of the Legal Team and have broad responsibilities with respect to the legal issues involved in running a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT), including working with the Investment, Asset Management and Corporate Teams. Given that we own over 1,100 properties (having acquired more than 85 in 2024 alone), it's a dynamic role that will expose the Attorney to a large variety of corporate and real estate issues. As a result, it is expected that the candidate will be in the office five-days a week in order to collaborate with various teams and executive management. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:General:Draft, review and prepare a broad range of legal documents to support business objectives and negotiate changes as appropriate (e.g., purchase agreements, leases, amendments, notices of default, estoppels, assignments, access agreements, right of entry, easements and other tenant correspondence and documentation) Review, understand, and accurately analyze legal documents, rules, regulations, and rulings related to the applicable practice area to determine rights, responsibilities, issues, and implications for FCPT and recommend, and implement appropriate follow-up actions as needed to address issues and mitigate risk. Manage outside counsel to the extent necessary with respect to the same Use advanced written and verbal communication skills to communicate frequently with various parties (e.g., sellers, tenants, outside counsel, vendors) to make formal requests, provide information, answer questions, and ensure issue resolution, where appropriate Field questions from other FCPT departments (e.g., accounting), research answers and provide information or guidance Additional duties as assigned Investments:Collaborate with and advise the Investment Team as to legal aspects of acquisition and disposition transactions (purchase and sale agreement negotiations, lease negotiation/review, diligence, etc.), managing outside counsel and coordinating with internal and external teams to ensure transactions stay on schedule and that risks to FCPT are minimized Asset Management:Collaborate with and advise the Asset Management team on leasing and property management legal matters, directly interacting with tenants and vendors, and drafting and negotiating applicable documentation Corporate:Assist Corporate team with Board matters and meetings, including direct interaction with members of the Board, corporate governance matters, securities matters, annual meeting and proxy statements, regulatory filings (10-K, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, etc.),debt and equity issuances, litigation matters, contract management, compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements (SEC, NYSE), disclosure, confidentiality agreements and entity management EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Law degree from a top tier law school and 2-4 years of experience at a law firm or in-house Experience with real estate transactions or leasing is preferred Experience with general corporate matters, including corporate housekeeping and governance Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written Ability to work independently and make confident and practical decisions while knowing when to escalate issues High level of professionalism, diplomacy and judgment in order to interact with senior management and other internal and external teams (property management and accounting) Ability to handle a high-volume workload and tight deadlines while keeping a good sense of humor Experience with legal management software a plus ABOUT US: FCPT was launched in 2015 and is a ~$4 billion (enterprise value) publicly traded net-lease REIT with over 1,100 properties.
