If you're ready to lead with purpose and make a lasting difference, this opportunity is for you!Job Purpose:Lead, direct, and provide oversight for statewide nutrition education programming and initiatives for children and their caregivers in early care, afterschool, and summer settings. Ensures full compliance with federal, state, regulatory agencies which apply to the Nutrition Education Programs of the agency. Job Duties and Responsibilities:Oversee the implementation of age-appropriate and evidence-based programming in early childhood (family child care homes and childcare centers) and school-aged (afterschool/summer programs) settings using national best practices, including program design, curriculum/resource development and/or identification, training, program implementation and delivery, program evaluation (observations), etc.Explore, recommend, develop, and expand nutrition education strategies to reach children in these settings statewide.Supervise early childhood and school-aged nutrition education programs, including logistics; promotion; hiring, coaching, training and managing educators/interns; processing expenses; addressing challenges and fostering clear communication.Explore nutrition education opportunities to reach children and their caregivers in early care and school age settings through capacity building vs. direct service. Seek out community, partner, and child needs and opportunity gaps. Identify resources including program, financial, and collaborating partners. In conjunction with department and agency leadership, determine which opportunities to pursue and take the lead in building out implementation of programming.Provide leadership statewide, and agency representation (advocate, spokesperson) to local, regional and state coalitions, committees and other organizations regarding nutrition education, developing and maintaining relationships with the key current and potential stakeholders. Establish and build collaborations to enhance and expand agency programs and missions.Develop and achieve annual goals and objectives for nutrition education programs within budget, and support development efforts to increase funding.Monitor nutrition related programs, projects and grants to ensure success and provide progress reports as necessary.Coordinate college interns; act as preceptor as needed.Job Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Nutrition/Dietetics, Childhood Development, Education, Public Health, or equivalentThree years experience in nutrition education, public health, or equivalent, including experience with program developmentThree years experience supervising/managing or equivalentInterpersonal skills especially influencing and motivation; relationship building; coachingCommunication skills especially oral, written and presentation/training skillsComputer skills including Microsoft Office SuiteExperience/proficiency using web-based applications for training and information sharingPlanning, organizing and prioritizing skillsData tracking and evaluation skillsOrganization and time management skillsAbility to work with diverse individuals and groupsBudget planning and management skillsStrategic thinking skills and ability to implement strategyJob Working Condition:Hybrid; typical office environmentModerate travel locally and statewideFlexible work hours required infrequently
