Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze project plans (blueprints, specifications, and project scope) documents to understand the full extent of the construction work.Perform detailed quantity takeoffs which involve calculating exact quantities of labor and materials needed for projects based on plans.Conduct estimating costs of individual components like labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to compare pricing and identify the most cost-effective options.Conduct risk assessments to identify potential challenges and contingencies that could impact project costs. Compile all cost elements into a comprehensive project estimate including a breakdown of labor, materials, and overhead. Submit cost estimates to clients and participate in competitive bids.Confer with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure accurate cost estimations along with changes and adjustments to cost estimates.Acquire a deep understanding of contract documents and project objectives.Assist in developing project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.Attend site visits as necessary to support project assessments and monitor progress.Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Engineers to develop and maintain project schedules.Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, including procurement of materials and equipment. Cultivate strong relationships with clients and trade partners.Facilitate effective communication and coordination among internal and external stakeholders.Solicit pricing from trade partners and offer recommendations to the Project Team.Ensure accurate and complete distribution of plans and specifications to subcontractors, flagging any discrepancies.Oversee precise accounting for the project and maintain timely reporting to the accounting department.Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety, conduct regular safety inspections and address safety-related concerns.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum five years of relevant experience in EstimatingAbility to manage multiple tasks effectivelyExcellent time management and organizational skillsAbility to work well under pressure and meet deadlinesProficient in reading federal construction plans and specifications Provide complex estimating data to stakeholdersGood oral and written communication skills.Past project experience involving any of the following special projects: design-build, LEED-certified, military construction, USACE, NAVFAC, U.S. Air Force, or any other similar forms of municipal/ public works constructionTechnical SkillsProficient with computer applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Strong analytical skills to interpret complex project plans and calculate costs accurately.Ability to perform calculations for material quantities and labor costs.
