In addition to caring about a well-crafted email and a succinct conference abstract, you understand that good writing is good design and engineering.Element 84 is seeking a Product Manager to work in a fast-paced Agile environment that ensures the accurate and timely design, development, and deployment of products and services that allow a large collection of Earth science data to be more discoverable by the end-user community. At Element 84, product managers are expected to be intimately involved with their team's performance, execution, budget, and customer satisfaction. The product manager will oversee the roadmap and delivery of a Scaled Agile (SAFe) release train. The tools on this train support searching, discovering, accessing, and managing Earth science data.You will also ensure adherence to operational agreements and policies and compliance with program and federal agency standards and requirements.Duties & ResponsibilitiesTeamwork & LeadershipYou demonstrate the 'We Invest In Each Other' company value in the following ways:As a customer-facing leader, you help the team understand high-level customer goals and the value of individual feature requests so that the team may deliver the most value possible.You help the customer understand Element 84's development process and advocate for better processes so that the development team is not hindered by external factors.You seek opportunities to grow the team by engaging with the customer and driving a vision for your projects.You collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, data scientists, business users, and other project managers to achieve elegant solutions.You build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in your projects.ExecutionYou demonstrate the "We Are Reliable" company value in the following ways:You define and support the building of desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable cloud-based products that meet customer needs over time.You build relationships and collaborate with internal and external teams to identify and define customer needs, build consensus on strategy, and track dependencies and roadmaps.You support the Agile Release Train (ART) in delivering value through the Program Kanban and Continuous Delivery Pipeline.You define Releases and Program Increments (PI) priorities and you lead and participate in PI planning.You manage and prioritize the ART feature backlog, as well as ensure product completeness.You develop and communicate the product vision and roadmap, for use towards coordinating the work of multiple Product Managers, ARTs, and Suppliers.You set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor the progress of your projects.You develop detailed project plans and roadmaps to communicate the vision and future of your project, and you map dependencies from your roadmap to other teams in your space.You incorporate quality measures and standards to project deliverables.You run formal planning sessions with all stakeholders to set the direction of your team's development efforts for a set duration of time.You approve timesheets for the development team, ensure staffing allocations are accurate in our time tracking system, monitor the project's budget, and manage resourcing for team members with multiple projects several months into the future.You have a thorough understanding of the technology tools used on your project and can explain and justify the use of these technologies.You work with customers to propose new features and expand your product scope. You draft proposals incorporating these new features and work with customers to create budgets for these features as needed. You inform the Contracts team about the contract renewal process for your project.You understand the market in which your product lives, you are able to contextualize how your users interact with your product, and you are able to anticipate your customers' future needs.This is a full time, salaried position. Remote candidates are considered if located in VA, DC, MD, PA, UT, NJ, TX, MN, FL, NH, OR, NM, OH, IN, AZ, CO, KS, NY MI, MT, SD, VT, CA, or IL (excluding Chicago).Required QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least 10 years of experience building software applications for enterprise-scale systems.At least 4 years of people management, including relationship building with key stakeholders, communicating technical findings with non-technical stakeholders, and working with subcontractor team members, in agile development environments.Ability to ensure that developed products are moving in the right direction, in step with the product vision, goals, and objectives.Ability to align development efforts to meet end-user needs and customer goals.Experience using metrics and data to drive a development team to a desired goal.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience creating RACI charts.Knowledge of best practices for Agile and/or Scaled Agile Framework (on larger projects)Travel is an essential component of this role, with approximately 6 trips per year expected to attend client meetings, industry conferences, or company events.This position requires that applicants be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future and be able to pass a National Agency Clearance with Inquires (NACI) screening.Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with the tools, data, and needs of the geospatial data using community.Demonstrated experience leading large and complex projects with a variety of stakeholders.Project Management Professional (PMP) certificationConflict ResolutionPaying attention to who we are as a company-people, family members, friends, and colleagues-is our primary focus at Element 84. We hope that's you.The salary range for this position is $125,000-$153,000.Actual compensation offered to candidate will be finalized at offer and may be above or below the posted range due to skill level, experience, industry-specific knowledge, education/certifications, or geographic location. Base salary represents just one component of the Element 84 total compensation package. Employees will also receive a number of benefits as listed below.
