Learn about our team here!We are seeking a Senior Electronics/Systems Engineer to lead the development and integration of electronic systems for our next-generation implantable neurotechnology devices. You will be instrumental in designing, testing, and optimizing hardware systems that support our groundbreaking neurotechnology platform.Key Responsibilities:Lead the design, prototyping, and testing of electronic circuits and systems for implantable medical devices, ensuring compliance with industry standards.Develop and optimize low-power, high-reliability systems for data acquisition, signal processing, and wireless power/communication.Create and validate PCB layouts for high-density, multi-layer boards, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with medical device standards (e.g., IEC 60601).Collaborate with inter-disciplinary teams, to define system requirements and architecture.Oversee integration of hardware with firmware and software to ensure seamless operation of the entire system.Perform system-level analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging to resolve complex technical issues.Drive risk assessment, verification, and validation efforts to meet regulatory and safety requirements for implantable medical devices (e.g., IEC 60601, ISO 13485).Lead system-level integration of hardware and firmware (including working with FPGAs and MCUs for medium-speed communication and processing)Lead decision making and trade-off for hardware/firmware features based on user needs and design requirements.Develop and execute test protocols to verify performance, reliability, and safety.Stay up-to-date with advancements in electronics, embedded systems, and neurotechnology to incorporate innovative solutions into product design.Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on projectsEssential Skills:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.5+ years of experience in electronics/system engineering, preferably in medical device development.Expertise in analog circuit design, including low-power and low-noise designs.Experience with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence, or Eagle) and layout best practices.Experience with signal processing, optical electronics and data acquisition systems.Familiarity with FMEA, risk analysis, and medical device design controls.Familiarity with medical device regulatory requirements (MHRA, FDA, ISO, IEC).Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external partners with the ability to lead technical discussions and present ideas clearly.Strong leadership skills with a proactive, self-driven attitude.Bonus Skills:Experience with wireless communication protocols (Bluetooth, RF).Proficient in embedded C/C++ programming for microcontrollers.Experience in MATLAB or Python for data analysis and algorithm development.Familiarity working with Nordic and/or STM32 devices.Knowledge of FPGA programming (i.e. Systems Verilog).Familiarity of working with various communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART).Skilled in preventative design for first time pass at Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Immunity (EMI) testing.Reporting Structure:This role is an integral part of the engineering team and reports directly to the VP of Engineering.Benefits:Competitive salary and optionsHealthcare and 401kProfessional development support and training opportunities.Flexible working hours and travel opportunities (We have sites in Australia, UK and US!)A chance to work on impactful, life-changing technologies in a dynamic, innovative environment.If you are passionate about innovation in healthcare, we would love to hear from you!
