Russell Tobin is seeking a Lab Operations Line Manager - Robotics Hardware Lab for a an innovative AI research organization in the San Francisco Bay Area.Job Title: Lab Operations Line Manager - Robotics Hardware LabLocation: San Francisco, CA 94110Job Type: ContractStart Date: February 11th , 2025End Date: December 31st, 2025About the role: We are looking for an experienced Lab Operations Line Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our robotics hardware lab. The role will ensure efficient workflow, compliance with safety protocols, and effective management of personnel to support research and engineering activities.Key Responsibilities:Team Management & Supervision:Manage and train lab technicians and support personnel to maintain high operational standards.Establish performance metrics, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.Coordinate staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage for operations.Lab Operations & Workflow Optimization:Oversee lab equipment and software configuration control to ensure consistency across experiments.Develop and implement streamlined workflows to improve lab efficiency.Identify operational bottlenecks and implement improvements.Safety & Compliance:Ensure all lab operations comply with safety regulations, including OSHA and Company policies.Conduct routine audits and safety training sessions.Serve as the primary contact for incident resolution and escalation.Inventory & Resource Management:Manage inventory levels, procurement, and vendor relationships.Ensure documentation and tracking of hardware assets and supplies.Plan and optimize lab resource allocation in alignment with project needs.Data Collection Oversight:Oversee data collection processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with Company standards.Collaborate with engineering teams to refine data reporting frameworks.Provide operational updates and insights to key stakeholders.Qualifications:5+ years of experience in lab operations, facilities management, or a similar role within a robotics or hardware environment.Proven ability to manage teams and optimize operational workflows.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Knowledge of safety compliance and regulatory requirements in technical lab settings.Familiarity with technical documentation and process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma preferred).Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in robotics or hardware manufacturing industries.Knowledge of automation systems and lab management software.Proficiency in project management tools and software tracking systems.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in a lab environment with exposure to various robotics equipment.Benefits that Russell Tobin offers:Russell Tobin offers eligible employee's comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, and vision plans), supplemental coverage (accident insurance, critical illness insurance and hospital indemnity), a 401(k)-retirement savings, life & disability insurance, an employee assistance program, identity theft protection, legal support, auto and home insurance, pet insurance, and employee discounts with some preferred vendors.Apply Today!
