Position: Mechanical Engineer III Req#: CRNGJP00027684Location: Hickory, NC (100% Onsite)Duration: 6+ Months ContractInterview Process: 1st round phone screen, 2nd round onsiteWork Schedule: 8-10 hours/day, M-F.Job Description:Education and Experience:BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology degree or comparable engineering experience5+ Years of experience requiredExperience with mechanical system design and integrationAbility to generate or modify mechanical models/drawings primarily using Inventor (or similar 3D CAD software), Vault and some AutoCADKnowledge and application of drafting standards including GD&TAbility to work with machine shops/vendors to complete part procurementHands-on experience with mechanical system troubleshooting such as pneumatic controls, flow control, water cooling systems, etc.Experience with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenanceExperience managing mechanics/electricians for equipment assembly and installationDesired Skills:Familiarity or experience with plastic extrusion manufacturingExperienced in electrical system troubleshooting including low and medium voltage systems, motion control, PLCs, temperature control systems, etcWorking knowledge of data analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel, PI and/or PowerBISoft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):Works well in a team environment, is a "self-starter" and "results-oriented".Acts and makes decisions in the best interest of the team.Complies with all policies and procedures of the plant.Works well with other disciplines (IT, electrical, and process engineering) to fully understand manufacturing system functionality and design requirements.Experience working in a manufacturing floor or construction environment, with a strong focus on job site safety. Proactive regarding safety. Seeks to identify and correct potential safety or environmental issues before they occur.Job Responsibilities:Main responsibility is to function as mechanical design support on project work to improve existing fiber optic cable manufacturing equipment.Design tooling and/or mechanical assemblies utilizing Inventor or AutoCADObtain quotes and order componentsRevise equipment drawingsDevelop experimental plans to validate designsAssemble or oversee the assembly of systems with the opportunity for hands-on workDebug and resolve issues when integrating designs into production equipmentWork closely with a cross-functional engineering team including IT, process and electrical engineers/techniciansWork with operations to update documentation and support training as needed
