Career Opportunity The VP, Core Operations will be responsible for the leadership, performance and efficiency of all EdgeCore data centers by managing EdgeCore's Core Operations Technician teams. This position will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations and will partner with other leaders within the operations, design, construction, and IT organizations to execute at scale. This position will ensure all maintenance activity is performed accurately and timely, event response is comprehensive, and buildings are managed in an efficient and cost-effective manner in line with customer requirements. In this role, you must be able to operate in a scalable manner, hitting key data center delivery timelines, while maintaining stringent uptime targets.A successful candidate for this role has a blend of technical expertise, team leadership skills, an understanding of hyperscale customer needs, and strong financial acumen. The individual will foster a strong safety culture, improve company culture, help drive a vision and strategy in a technologically evolving context, achieve operational excellence, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, ensuring the long-term success of the organization and its clients. Finally, this individual will proactively identify new technologies that could impact the critical infrastructure environment, whether from manufacturers or customers, and ensure that EdgeCore is aware of such technologies and considers integrating them into its basis of design.Manage the operations of all data centers, ensuring safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.Continuously improve processes, systems, and team capabilities to support scalability and meet target delivery dates.Ensure availability and capacity targets are achieved and maintained for data centers and technical infrastructure.Foster a team-oriented culture focused on operational excellence through consistent reporting and timely feedback. Hold employees accountable for the timely, safe, and accurate completion of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.Deliver exceptional customer satisfaction by resolving service concerns promptly and efficiently.Ensure site teams possess a deep understanding of the engineering and operational aspects of data center systems, enabling quick and comprehensive identification and resolution of performance deficiencies in line with service level agreements.Establish, develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party maintenance providers and critical infrastructure vendors to guarantee timely, accurate, safe, and cost-effective equipment maintenance.Ensure operational and capital portions of the operations budgets are established and achieved each annually and over the long term.Collaborate with design and construction teams to enhance data center designs.Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance and work order programs, including scheduling, coordination, and vendor management during maintenance and break/fix events.Ensure the safety of personnel while protecting critical facility equipment.Implement and uphold a process-driven, well-documented operational structure that supports scalability and excellence.Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with approved operating procedures and EdgeCore's Mission Critical Facility work rules.Collaborate with peers to perform periodic technical and quality reviews of all teams, processes, MOPs/SOPs, JHAs, building risk registers, etc. to ensure that the most up-to-date techniques and safety guidelines are used.Evaluate system performance and propose cost-effective improvements to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.Set and manage team performance goals, driving accountability and successful completion.Protect and enhance the value of company assets by maintaining building machinery and systems to meet or exceed expected lifespans, avoiding unplanned capital expenses through proper budget management.Plan, execute, and close out major projects performed at the data centers in alignment with industry best practices.Maintain all data center buildings and campuses in excellent operational condition.Establish a world-class reputation for customer service, ensuring superior experiences for current and future customers.Build and sustain relationships with key vendors and customers to stay informed about technology advancements and their potential business impacts.Your Experience and QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field, or equivalent work experience required10+ years of experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision, strongly preferred10+ years of direct managerial experience and interpersonal skills, strongly preferredProven record of excellent internal and external customer serviceExcellent communication skills, well in both oral and written reportsProficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and building automation systemsDemonstrated success leading technical data centers teams through process, reporting, documentationProven relationship management skills and ability to communicate and influence stakeholdersAbility to travel approximately 20-40% of the timeWhat We OfferThis is a full-time salaried position, including equity compensation and a performance-based annual bonus This is a hybrid role, with expectations to work four days in-office per week This role is based in Sterling, Virginia, with free on-site parking for the successful candidateBase salary range is $250,000-275,000, depending on experienceMedical, dental & vision insurance coverage Health & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Savings Account (HSA)160 hours of paid time off annually, plus 11 paid holidays 401(k) retirement savings plan with a company contributionCompany-paid life and disability insuranceCompany sponsored employee assistance and discount programs
