Our client offers highly qualified engineering support on various projects. They also provide downhole tools used in directional drilling. We are looking for an intermediate level engineer to join their team in the Houston area. This role is primarily office based with some fieldwork and meetings with clients/vendors/contractors required.This position is responsible for managing the manufacturing workflow of product development to successful completion. Day-to-day management of all product deliverables and related documents is required, including coordination of project requirements. This position requires developing and maintaining good communication, progress reporting and monitoring manufacturers' production of fabricated products.Projects range from small-scale upgrades to full-scope pipeline projects.Responsibilities:Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors.Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow.Assures product and process quality and carries out regular vendor quality audits.Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Provides manufacturing engineering support to vendors.Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.Maintains product and process database by writing computer programs and entering data.Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs.Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.Ensures the successful execution of "projects.", meeting project deadlines and quality requirements.Maintains effective working relationships with clients, contractors, staff and other employees.Assists with the completion of various project deliverables (DBM's, cost estimates, project schedules, engineered drawings, specifications and datasheets, evaluation of construction feasibility, route evaluation and selection, process design, pipeline systems optimization)Leads all quality control processes.Coordinates with various disciplines, both internal and external.Assists with business development proposals and studies as required, including occasional presentations or attendance at industry conferences.Occasional travel to site for project meetings, site visits, and kick-offs, as needed.Assists in developing and standardizing templates and commonly issued project documents/calculations to improve overall efficiency of the company's operations.Coordinates department resources as needed. Including 3rd Party Subcontractors and Vendors where applicable.Qualifications:Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering from an Accredited University.Registered as Professional Engineer.A minimum of 5+ years' experience in a related field; manufacturing and/or product development experience is considered an asset.Experience with downhole tooling, horizonal directional drilling, or any kind of pipeline drilling.Experience troubleshooting manufacturing problems.Experience managing small to mid-size projects.Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills.An excellent communicator and team player, able to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment with a positive attitude.Detail-oriented, meticulous, and strong organizational skills.Dependable, accountable, and adaptable.Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.Quality and safety-oriented mindset.Experience with AutoCAD, Excel, and Solidworks is an asset.Technical writing skills.Professional licensure with other provincial associations is a benefit.
