Stites & Harbison, PLLC, a full-service law firm, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Resource Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support our attorneys in delivering exceptional service to our clients in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This is an in-office position based at our Lexington office.JOB SUMMARY:The Legal Resource Assistant provides dynamic administrative support for the Lexington and Frankfort offices. This role ensures smooth operations in the absence of the assigned Legal Assistant and performs a variety of clerical, secretarial, and administrative tasks. Key responsibilities include preparing legal documents, transcription, mail processing, data entry, filing, and other duties as assigned.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Document Preparation: Draft, type, and edit correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other materials with a focus on accuracy and content quality.Legal Documentation: Create and proofread legal documents, such as motions, memoranda, briefs, orders, and petitions.Records Management: Serve as custodian of documents and records; organize and maintain filing systems with minimal supervision.Document Handling: Coordinate the filing, recording, and service of legal documents via mail, email, or courier services.Administrative Support: Manage schedules, arrange appointments, and handle confidential clerical tasks.Event Coordination: Order meals for meetings, organize calendars, schedule firm events, and update company records.Miscellaneous Tasks: Support attorneys and the Office Administrator with projects and other responsibilities as needed.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Associate's degree (or equivalent of 64 hours) preferred; High School diploma or GED required.Five or more years of executive or legal administrative experience strongly preferred. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to prioritize effectively.Self-Starter: Capable of working independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach.Confidentiality: Maintain discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiar with modern office equipment. Knowledge of legal software and technologies is a plus.Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with legal terminology, document preparation, and filing procedures is preferred.Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation abilities.Typing Speed: Minimum of 60-65 words per minute.Adaptability: Quick learner, internet-savvy, and able to adopt new technologies and processes.Problem Solving: Analyze situations effectively and take appropriate actions.This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a professional legal environment, providing critical support to ensure efficient operations in a fast-paced setting.
