Job Title: Patent ParalegalPositions: 1Location: Hybrid (1 day must be in-person in San Francisco; the other day can be either in San Francisco or Sunnyvale, CA)Duration: 6 months (Extendable)Rate: $60-62/hrJob DescriptionWe are seeking a full-time contractor for a Patent Paralegal position. The role requires a hybrid working arrangement, with one in-person day per week in the San Francisco office and an additional in-office day in either San Francisco or Sunnyvale.As a member of the IP Operations team, you will report to the Manager, Principal Patent Paralegal. In this role, you will help protect and establish rights to innovations by coordinating U.S. and foreign filing and prosecution. You will collaborate closely with in-house attorneys, agents, paralegals, and outside counsel in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.ResponsibilitiesResearch, prepare, and draft complex legal documents for international patent filings and prosecution.Prepare and file U.S. and PCT applications electronically using tools like ePCT and Patent Center.Collaborate with internal attorneys, agents, and international law firms to meet all patent filing deadlines and formalities.Respond to internal and external questions regarding third-party and company patents.Research and provide accurate information on patent terms, priority dates, ownership, and other related details using resources like Patent Center, Espacenet, and Patentscope.Ensure compliance with patent handling procedures and maintain accuracy in all processes.Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.QualificationsBachelor's degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent experience.A minimum of 3 years of combined U.S. and foreign patent filing experience.Solid knowledge of U.S. and international patent filing rules and procedures.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel at intermediate to advanced levels).Experience with patent docketing systems (e.g., MxHero, Box, Anaqua) is a plus.Strong written, oral, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and composure in a fast-paced environment.Ability to read and extract information accurately from legal documents.Willingness to learn and adapt to new software tools as needed.RequirementsLocation: Candidates must be local, as the position requires hybrid work (1 day in San Francisco and another day either in San Francisco or Sunnyvale).Experience: Candidates must have experience with both U.S. and foreign patent filing rules. Resumes lacking this will not be considered.Contract Role: This is strictly a 6-month contract position with the potential for extension. It is not a temp-to-perm opportunity. Candidates must fully understand and accept the temporary nature of the role.
