By making fleets smarter, we make them safer.We've worked to build an integrated safety platform for fleet vehicles of every type - School Bus, Transit, Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, Work Truck, Truck & Trailer, Waste & Recycling, Industrial, and Military.We're driving safety forward in everything we do and we're looking for innovative, enthusiastic self-starters to join us.Work for the Smart Safety CompanyThe Quality Engineer will be responsible for planning and directing activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.SummaryCustomer and Supplier QualityCommunicate with customers and suppliers on quality related concerns, quality systems improvement, and continuous improvement projectsCoordinate activities for customer production part submission and approval (PPAP)Coordinate activities for supplier part submission and approvalCoordinate safe launch activitiesProblem SolvingLead problem solving activities to address customer and internal quality concernsFacilitate supplier activities to address quality concernsLead and participate in problem solving activities to address deficiencies in production performance vs. goalsCommunicate with external and internal customers to resolve production performance issuesContinuous ImprovementLead and participate in proactive continuous improvement activities including scrap reduction and cost reductionContribute waste elimination suggestions and variation reduction initiativesQuality StandardsWork with customers and suppliers to establish visual and functional quality standardsQuality SystemsCreate and maintain quality system documentation including work instructions, control plans, and check sheetsParticipate in development and maintenance of FMEAsLead or participate in internal audit functionsOther duties as assignedMust be willing to travel occasionally to customer and supplier locationsTrain associates to quality standards and processesSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: · This position has no supervisory experienceCOMPETENCIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:· Proficient Microsoft Office· Strong attention to detail· Ability to make independent decisions using good judgment, thorough knowledge and proven record of utilizing disciplined problem-solving methods and toolsAdvanced analytical abilitiesAbility to prioritize and manage multiple projectsOutstanding communication and interpersonal abilitiesSelf-motivated with a results-driven approachExposure to lean manufacturingExperience as an ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 auditor a plusQUALIFICATIONS:· Formal education in relevant field.· ASQ: CQT, CQA, or CQE a plus· Quality engineer, supplier quality engineer and/or quality technician experience.· CMM programming experience a plus· Overall metrology experience· Process improvement experience· Knowledge of practical application of AIAG tools: APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA ...· Foundry, machining, coating, welding, and/or assembly plant experience preferred· Experience in team-oriented problem solving, 8D, 5-Why, otherLANGUAGE SKILLS: · Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English· Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in person, on the phone, and in writingCOMPUTER SKILLS: · Internet based software· Order processing software· MS OfficePHYSICAL DEMANDS: · The employee must have adequate hearing and visual acuity. The position requires being seated a good portion of the day. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
