Relay Settings Engineer

ResponsibilitiesDevelopment of Protective Relay Settings for microprocessor relays including: SEL, GE, ABB and others. For both transmission line relays (line differential, Step distance and Pilot Schemes) and Substation relays (Capacitor Banks, Transformers and Buses)Conduct short circuit analysis and relay coordination studies using Aspen OneLiner and/or PSS CAPE.Develop compliance tasks and methods to mitigate risks identified by Compliance departmentDevelop/update/manage drawing management process and project drawingsReview protection and SCADA system design and drawings, using CAD, Visio, Bluebeam, and other toolsCoordinate and support evidence collection and technical reviews of engineering submittals, test records, SCADA configurations and other technical data setsConsults frequently with technicians, operators, and engineers to manage operational and technical requirements for NERC compliance programSupport protection engineering and field operations for performing reviews of system event records including sequence of events (SER) and digital fault recordings (DFR)Assist with remote and occasionally local commissioning and service work on all SCADA-related systems including equipment monitoring devices, fault recorders, weather stations and network equipmentSupport onsite relaying and SCADA system commissioning for factory and site acceptance testing as requiredExperienceCapable of using Aspen OneLiner and/or Electrocon CAPE for coordination studies and fault study analysis.Preparation of protective relay coordination studiesExperience with development of relay settings for microprocessor relays including: SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB and others. For both transmission line relays (Line Differential, Step Distance and Pilot Schemes) and substation relays (Capacitors, Transformers and buses)Being familiar with Schweitzer AcSELerator QuickSet, General Electric EnerVista and Schneider Electric MiCOM software is a plus.Strong engineering and interpersonal skills and high attention to detail with a passion for quality.Experience implementing control and protection schemes including interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams and preparing relay logic to complete the schemes.Ability to meet deadlines under pressure situations.
