Job Description: The Sanitation Manager will monitor and supervise the cleaning of the plant production equipment and facility to meet food safety, customer quality and employee safety requirements. The position will ensure employees follow Company policies and procedures, ensure that sanitation, quality and department efficiencies are maintained at or above standards, and support the commitment and continual improvement to Food Safety and Quality programs. Develops and directs the plant sanitation program with the sanitation team to ensure the plant operates within good manufacturing practices that comply with Federal, State, and company standards. Ensure proper staffing is available to efficiently conduct sanitation activities, including dishwashers, sanitation, janitorial and housekeeping. Develops and maintains plant sanitation programs and procedures. Handle employee scheduling, conflict resolution, corrective action, interviewing, etc. This position works closely with Production, QA, Maintenance on sanitation related elements, and to ensure all USDA, FDA and HACCP requirements are met on a nightly basis. They are also responsible for supporting food safety and quality in the plant.Requirements: 5+ years' supervisory and sanitation experience in a food processing facility; preferably a vegetable processing facility.Understand and have knowledge of chemicals used in the cleaning process; understand the manufacturing process and equipment parts/systems in order to ensure proper sanitization of equipment and efficient line start-ups.Understand and have knowledge of GMP, SQF audits, FDA, USDA, HACCP, and OSHA requirements.Ensures that employees and managers have the required food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety trainingAbility to work in a refrigerated environment, 36-degreesUse of rubber and latex glovesLeadership experience in a large inter-disciplinary group environmentAbility to work well with others by building cooperative working relationships with other departmentsTraining and performance management of the sanitation team to include developing and implementing skills validations and moving individual skills forward.Lead a continuous improvement team as it relates to sanitation programs with a goal of improving overall performance for the department and facilityBe responsible for the safety engagement, activities, and performance of the Sanitation employees.Experience with computers and software including Excel, Word, Power Point, OutlookAbility to work independently and under time constraintsCandidate must have open schedule flexibility, with most of the time being spent on nightshift sanitation.
