To organize and coordinate manufacturing workforces/resources as a team.Essential Job Functions:Reviews / coordinates with the Planning department the equipment schedules and staffing levels needed to meet the daily/ weekly / monthly production plan.Assigns & prioritizes work for their shift to run the necessary orders and meet the production plan.Identifies issues and leads hourly teams to improve productivity and quality levels to meet departmental goals.In conjunction with the Manager, Injection Molding, leads the continuous improvement efforts to streamline operations and reduce production costs.Monitors that all shifts comply with inventory, materials ordering, production reporting and the work order closing procedures.Reviews that all labor gets reported and coded appropriately in PRMS according to the work performed throughout the different shifts.Actively participates with Engineering in the planning and execution of capital projects related to the area.Interacts with Engineering to correct deviations between actual and standards for output rates, BOMs, routers, etc.Assures that adequate vertical and horizontal communication is maintained between shifts and communicates to Manager and others issues, changes, recommendations, and issues related to the areas of responsibility.Determines with planning staffing levels required to meet production needs on a week by week basis for the assigned shifts.Controls staffing levels required to meet production needs through coordination with Temporary staffing agencies.Evaluates direct reports' performance levels and provides formal / informal feedback to employees.Interviews and participates in the selection of new hires for the functions reporting to this position.Submits documentation for personnel administrative processes such as pay rate reviews, vacation requests, LOA's, etc.Monitors and enters data into the pay-roll system to assure that employees get paid according to their time worked and maintains attendance records.Assures that adequate training is provided for new and existing employees, and that corporate training completion goals and requirements are met at all times.Monitors that safety practices & procedures as well as company policies are observed.Assures that good housekeeping and manufacturing practices are being followed on the floor during the shift.Identifies areas of improvement in the molding operations to increase efficiency of molded product, related to tooling, machines, and/or methods.Provides advice and guidance to process technicians regarding when an issue requires a process related adjustment, and when tooling or machines need to be addressedEnforces all injection molding related proceduresCollaborates with Engineering and Molding Technicians and Management to implement advanced molding techniques such as scientific molding principles to increase consistency of molded product.Communicates with and resolves any pending quality issues that arise on the shift with the Quality DepartmentEducationFour year college degree and/or applicable experience.Knowledge/Experience Working knowledge of injection molding and plastic part quality characteristicsAt least 7 years progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with at least five years in a management role.Budgetary knowledge of labor, capital equipment and production supplies.Knowledge of ISO 9000, MRPII systems & Microsoft's Excel and Word software.Minimum 5 years of experience in an injection molding environment preferred.SkillsComputer proficiency: Lotus Notes, Microsoft OfficeStrong organizational and time management skillsSelf-starter with strong interpersonal skillsCommunication skills: Written, Oral and PresentationBasic understanding of the components of injection molding toolingBasic understanding of typical decoupled injection molding processBasic understanding of normal operating characteristics of horizontal and vertical machinesAbility to access skill level of injection molding technicians and setup personnelAbilitiesAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.Attention to DetailListeningAbility to make sound judgment decisionsWhat Makes Sunstar Special is:A business focused on health and wellness of people around the worldHigh Quality ProductsBeautiful state-of-the-art facilityDiversity and InclusionCorporate Social Responsibility Program and partnership with charitable organizationStrong value placed on company cultureExcellent, comprehensive insurance coverage that includes Medical, Vision, and Dental benefits.Opportunities for career growth and advancementEmployee discount on Sunstar products401K retirement plan with employer match (Pretax and Roth options)401K profit sharing contribution based on company performance.Paid holidays and generous paid time off. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus as part of total compensation.
