JOB OVERVIEWJob TitleOperations ManagerDepartmentElectrical Services Group (ESG)LocationPittsburgh, PAReports ToExecutive VP & COOFLSAExemptGENERAL JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining corporate policy for the construction operations, overseeing all aspects of ESG's construction and maintenance activities, and implementing sound standards for all projects. The role ensures greater safety, lower cost, and higher returns for the company. Conduct must always be ethical and professional to ensure maximum company profitability and customer satisfaction, while upholding the company's core values.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral ResponsibilitiesLead and uphold safety standards, ensuring team safety as the top priority. Collaborate with the Safety Director to implement and enforce safety programs across ESG projects.Assist, advise, and educate ESG staff on fulfilling responsibilities while adhering to company policies and procedures.Participate with the CMO and COO in selecting projects to pursue.Support managers in contract negotiations to protect company rights and fulfill responsibilities.Maintain a stable, well-trained field labor force to meet customer needs and company commitments.Coordinate further education and training for ESG personnel with the Director of Training.Supervise projects as directed by the COO, acting as project executive when necessary.Regularly communicate departmental activities and corporate updates to staff for full coordination.Maximize cost control and profitability for ESG projects while ensuring efficient cash flow management.Collaborate with the COO and Regional Managers to develop and monitor the annual budget, ensuring goals are met or exceeded.Develop operational plans with the key management team as needed.Ensure all staff participate in required corporate and training programs.Monitor market conditions and staff requirements to recommend equitable wage levels in collaboration with the COO.Oversee and ensure the timely, accurate completion of responsibilities by direct reports.Conduct performance reviews for direct reports per the corporate Performance Management System.Fulfill duties in compliance with the company's mission, vision, core values, safety standards, and policies.Communicate ESG operations updates to the COO for a comprehensive understanding of activities.Pursue business opportunities, cultivate customer relationships, and ensure customer satisfaction.Maintain vendor relationships to protect the company's position, avoiding conflicts of interest and adhering to company policies and legal standards.Work flexible hours as needed to ensure job responsibilities are completed accurately and thoroughly.Assume additional tasks assigned by senior management or inherent to this position.EDUCATION & TRAININGBachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent level of relevant experience.KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCEMinimum of 10 years of experience in an overhead management position, including estimating, project management, and team management experience.Ability to understand and monitor labor productivity.Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and National Electrical Safety Code.Complete understanding of various project delivery methods.Knowledge of contract law, labor law, and union agreements.SKILLS & ABILITIESClear and effective communicator (both speaking and listening).High emotional intelligence and self-awareness.Strong leadership and motivational skills.Holds self and others accountable.High attention to detail and organizational skills.Strategic thinker with the ability to identify goals and pathways to success.Effective delegator and decision-maker.Multi-tasker who can manage various tasks and challenges simultaneously.Strong mathematical and accounting skills.Highest degree of integrity and trustworthiness.Commitment to respect and compassion towards others.Ability to maintain a positive attitude and even temperament under difficult circumstances.OTHER REQUIREMENTSValid driver's license with the ability to travel.HOURS / SHIFTSMonday through Friday, normal business hours; additional days/hours depending on job site needs.
