OVERVIEWBased in San Francisco, The Little School is a nationally recognized, relationship-based, inclusive preschool program committed to providing individualized, quality education to young children. The Little School offers a variety of classes starting with a part-time program for 2-year-olds and continuing up to a highly regarded TK Program. THE OPPORTUNITY:The Accounting & HR Manager is an important member of the Little School administrative team with primary responsibilities in the areas of financial management. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of 5 years of experience as an accountant and/or CPA level workDemonstrated experience and knowledge of payroll systems, best practicesDemonstrated experience and knowledge of employee benefits including (but not limited to): medical, dental, retirement, CA Labor LawsExercises professional judgment in problem-solving, using discretion, and maintaining confidentialityExperience with Quickbooks Online and ADPExtremely detail-oriented and preciseExcellent customer service skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsOrganized and able to work independently, prioritize efficiently, and effectively manage interruptions and timeStrong tech skills and comfort with learning new technologiesExcellent Google Suite and Microsoft Office skillsWorks well with a diverse staff and school community, including displaying cultural competence and sensitivity across a broad range of individual, cultural, and societal differencesPreferred: Experience automating manual processes, Ravenna/Community Brands, experience with Ramp, and experience with fundraising and fundraising platformPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift and/or carry up to 40lbs, sit/bend/stoopMust complete health and safety training upon hiring and current health screenings, immunizations, proof of primary series Covid vaccination, and fingerprint clearances.SCHEDULE, COMPENSATION, & BENEFITSThis is a full-time, exempt position. The compensation range for this position begins at $90K per year and is dependent upon experience. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, retirement, paid time off (including 5 weeks of paid school closures), professional development opportunities, and child enrollment at the school (subject to application deadlines) are also offered. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Overall role:The Accounting & HR Manager at The Little School is crucial to the successful functioning of a successful Business office. This person will be supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the school, as well as accounting responsibilities and HR function and compliance. Management and oversightThe Accounting & HR Manager is supervised by the Finance Director. Specific responsibilities and tasks (including but not limited to):Financial ManagementResponsible for aspects of A/P including purchasing and managing invoicesManage Cash Receipts including timely depositsMonitor and record credit card spending, ensuring all approvals and supporting documentation are providedClose and balance books monthly, prepare lead schedules, and assist with the required information for auditsManage and oversee aspects of Tuition Billing alongside the Administrative Team, including executing enrollment contracts, setting up payment plans, and collecting tuition, including assisting families with questions and concerns on tuition billingProvide information requested by the Executive DirectorProcess bi-monthly payroll and oversee the issuance of W2s and other required forms as indicated and assist with the annual Worker's Comp reviewMonitor all school investments, including endowment fund and other restricted funds, and prepare timely reports as directed by the Board of Trustees.Assist the Executive Director, Finance Director, and Board of Trustees in developing the annual operating budgetSupport the Board of Trustees, Executive Director, and Finance Director by providing financial reports and analysisProvide monthly budget reports and investment reports as required by the Board of TrusteesHR & GAAP ComplianceResponsible for the enrollment, and oversight of employee benefitsTrack employer and employee 403(b) contributions, and complete monthly 403(b) transfers onlinePoint person for staff with payroll and retirement contribution questions or concernsContinue industry knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, etcEffectively and clearly communicate potential financial risks in a timely mannerCoordinate, produce, and file all tax documentation as requiredStrategy & DirectionCollaborate with the Executive Director and Finance Director on strategic directionEstablish and communicate critical financial measurementsPropose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attainedCreate an annual budget analysis of compensation for the Executive DirectorMORE ABOUT THE LITTLE SCHOOLPhilosophyAt The Little School, we focus on the development of the whole child.
