Protective safety equipment will be provided.Interaction with patients, staff, and medical professionals is expected throughout the day.Job Overview:We seek a skilled and compassionate X-ray technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will specialize in performing DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scans for bone density assessments and body composition analysis. You will work closely with patients and healthcare providers to ensure accurate diagnostic imaging, primarily promoting patient comfort and safety during procedures.Shift Details:Schedule: Monday and Friday, with potential flexibilityShift Hours: 9 am - 1 pmKEY RESPONSIBILITIESPerform DEXA Scans:Conduct bone density scans for the detection and monitoring of osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions.Execute body composition analysis using DEXA to assess fat mass, lean body mass, and bone mineral density.Maintain precise imaging techniques, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images that meet clinical standards.Patient Care and Interaction:Prepare patients for DEXA scans by explaining the procedure, addressing concerns, and positioning them correctly on the imaging table.Monitor patients throughout the procedure, ensuring their comfort and addressing any needs.Ensure proper communication with patients, including addressing any follow-up questions related to the procedure or results.Image Quality and Safety Compliance:Adhere to all safety protocols, ensuring proper use of equipment and radiation protection measures to minimize patient and staff exposure.Review and verify images for quality assurance and document any issues related to image clarity, positioning, or technical errors.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing radiation safety and patient confidentiality (HIPAA).Equipment Maintenance:Perform routine maintenance and daily calibration checks on DEXA machine and imaging systems to ensure they are in good working order.Troubleshoot and report any malfunctions or technical issues to the Supervising Team.Record Keeping and Documentation:Accurately document patient history, procedures performed, and other relevant information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.Maintain organized records of DEXA scan results for follow-up and reporting purposes.Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and timely results.Communicate scan results, patient progress, and any concerns or complications to the physician for interpretation.Continuing Education & Training:Stay up-to-date with advancements in DEXA technology and best practices in radiology.Participate in continuing education programs, workshops, and professional development activities to maintain certification and licensure.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Certifications:Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography. Bone Densitometry Certification is preferred.State licensure as required by New York state.Experience:A minimum of 1 year of experience as a radiologic technologist, with specific experience in performing DEXA bone density and body composition scans, is preferred.Strong knowledge of bone density imaging and body composition assessment techniques.Skills & Abilities:Proficient in operating DEXA and radiologic equipment.Ability to provide high levels of patient care, ensuring comfort and understanding during procedures.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, medical staff, and healthcare providers.Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining patient safety and comfort.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand for extended periods and assist in patient positioning.Ability to lift and move patients as necessary (within weight limits).Visual acuity to evaluate diagnostic images for quality and accuracy.Manual dexterity to operate radiologic equipment and handle medical devices.Compensation:Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
