Job Title Research Analyst/Programmer (Full-Time)Start Date Spring 2025Location Columbia University Medical Center Upper Manhattan, New York CityCompensation Salary TBD (includes benefits) 40 hours/week, with a two-year commitmentAbout UsProfessor Chin Hur's research team at Columbia University Medical Center conducts cutting-edge analyses using simulation models and advanced statistical/machine learning methods to guide clinical care and public health decisions, primarily focusing on the prevention and management of various cancers (e.g., stomach, colorectal, esophageal, pancreatic) and other medical conditions such as obesity.Dr. Hur also serves as a coordinating Principal Investigator and steering committee member for the National Cancer Institute's CISNET Modeling consortium (CISNET website).Lab WebsiteDr. Hur's Research GroupRole & ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and optimize simulation models for cancer research.Run simulations, debug code, curate results, and analyze data.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, clinical researchers, epidemiologists, and statisticians.Communicate findings effectively and contribute to scientific publications.QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Engineering, Statistics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Physics).Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, C/C++).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.Excellent organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to take initiative.Interest in medical or public health research, particularly in cancer prevention and care.What We OfferThe chance to contribute to impactful medical research influencing patient care and public health and work within a mission-minded team.Opportunities to co-author publications (our group publishes more than 25 scientific articles per year).Mentorship and letters of reference from Columbia University faculty.How to Apply Email your CV (or any questions) to look forward to reviewing your application and potentially welcoming you to our dedicated research team!
