The activities of the Technical Service Advisor, which include product demonstrations, product recommendations, sales support and training, are a resource to support the achievement of sales goals. Technical Service Advisors are assigned to a sales group and the primary performance measurement is manufactured product sales. It is the Technical Service Advisors responsibility to provide customers with technical services as well as training and guidance for the assigned sales representatives group with the objective to reach budgeted manufactured product sales increases for their group.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:As an expert in the customer driven technical features and benefits of BakeMark manufactured productsDevelops and leads the training of BakeMark sales & management team on the features and benefits of BakeMark manufactured products (at Sell and Win Big Conference (SWB), local and special training meetings).Supplies technical expertise for sales group and develops and leads sales presentations and provides follow-up once the customer produces the potential products.Provides direction and counsel on a new custom formulated product with the Research and Development Department, from concept and project brief through formulation to initial production.Provides technical liaison services between management, production department, sales department and customers with newly developed techniques or products by developing and leading training for execution of field-testing including written feedback if assigned to the project.Provides technical liaison services to inform customers of new types, specifications, and end uses of BakeMark manufactured products by the development of training materials provided to customers.New product launch partners: With an understanding of the BakeMark launch goals for the assigned sales group, the Technical Service Advisor partners with the sales group for success in new product launches by leading and development of the training provided to the sales team at SWB & local meetings, preparing samples for demonstration to potential customers, developing training, features and benefits in coordination with the Sales Manager, presentations and consulting with customers on preparation and use of product.Develops in conjunction with general manager's calendar of manufactured product training at local sales meetings.Investigates as field product expert - customer complaints regarding quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered condition of manufactured products. Fills out the official product complaint forms secures product samples for shipment to the quality lab located in Pico Rivera, CA and follows in general the BakeMark policy regarding product complaints.Initiates routinely competitive product cuttings, selects competitive products, bakes in comparison with BakeMark product and writes baking reports and cross reference charts regarding product properties to share with the team and sales associates.Baking services for SWB and regional sales meetings.Baking services for national and local and national trade showsUnderstands and utilizes the "Mfg. Sales Budget Reports" for the assigned sales group to ensure that manufactured product sales increase goals for the members of their sales groups are met.Provides brief period action plans (4-week advance) to the Sales Managers.Provides all required reports: Tech Service Request & Report (one page), Brief Weekly Updated 4-Week-Advance-Schedule, Expense Report and Detailed Bake Report (for all products demonstrated at accounts).Using standardized forms and reports, provides consistent and uniform documentation throughout the departments and to customers.Record keeping and systematic filing of copies of above reports is a requirement.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical baking school; and 4 to 5 years related wholesale or commercial baking experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and wholesale or commercial baking experience. Additional AIB training would be beneficialLANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish/Cambodian) is a plus.TRAVEL ABILITY:Ability to conduct calls that require traveling an average of 85% of the annual work time. Ability to take care of travel arrangements such as air-travel, hotel, rental car, shuttle transfer and meals conforming to the BakeMark travel policy.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Must have been certified by at least the RBA baking programs, would prefer AIB master baker certification. Must have understanding of commercial and wholesale baking processes and equipment. Must have a valid driver's license in the State where they reside.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee needs to be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to carry and hold this load on a semi-frequent basis and be able to turn with it and set it at a multitude of different height levels for storage and display purposes.The employee needs to be able to keep up with the average manual production speeds required in an average bakery environment.
