Haugland Group, a privately-owned Long Island, New York-based civil infrastructure and energy construction company has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Civil Superintendent to join our team. Superintendents will be responsible for overseeing all daily field operations to ensure proper site safety, construction, progress, and quality control.At Haugland, we understand that pushing the boundaries of what has been done is essential to develop the infrastructure of tomorrow. We are leaders in building what's next because we see the path to get there and we're setting a new standard of exceptional along the way.Let's build together!Key FunctionsProvide guidance, leadership, mentorship, and direct supervision of site staff, including assistant superintendents, laborers and other construction related personnel;Management of schedule, including weekly preparation of 2-week look ahead;Proactively schedule and coordinate all subcontractors to ensure completion of the project in accordance with the project schedule and to ensure that no additional costs are required for completion of work;Coordinate and schedule asphalt material from plant, assuring proper mix designs are used and quantities are tracked and released as necessary;Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and commitments including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections;Manage labor force and usage;Coordinate equipment needs and usage;Ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards;Demonstrate and maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team regarding changes in work, job conditions, subcontractor relations and any deviation in the direction of the project;Work in partnership with project management to maintain an updated and accurate project schedule that reflects the changes in project status and that meets the cost and time requirements of the project;Run weekly meetings, including project and subcontractor meetings;Initiate RFI process; consisting of the creation of and suggestions on solutions to site issues;Exceed client expectations for each project by understanding client needs, wants, preferences and culture;Continuously promote positive subcontractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors instilling this philosophy in project team;Maintain and review punch list process to ensure all are addressed and executed in a timely manner;Manage close out process and warranty responses with project managerDesired Qualifications5-10 years ExperienceBS/BA in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or commensurate experience preferredExcellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listeningKnowledge of construction budgeting best practicesEffective leadership abilities, like motivation, goal-setting and conflict managementOrganizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization and multitaskingWhy Haugland?Compensation range for this role is 115-190kAt Haugland Group, our benefits are designed to convey company culture and values which has employees at its forefront.Compensation highly competitiveWe offer an excellent benefits package including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, short/long term disability and life insuranceWe offer a 401k with 5% employer matchPotential for annual performance-based raisePaid Time OffPaid company observed holidaysEducational and professional advancement opportunitiesFrequent company-sponsored eventsRelaxed, friendly officeFast paced, exciting environmentHaugland Group LLC and its operating divisions, affiliates, related entities, and subsidiaries (collectively, "the Company") do not accept unsolicited resumes from search firms or employment agencies.
