C&D seeks to develop strong relationships with preferred customers, and most importantly, we operate as a team.Job Duties:The ability to work proficiently and autonomously on assigned projects, and working with other team members, while reporting directly back to the Chief Electrical Estimator.Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.Proficient knowledge in Excel or other types of electronic pricing software(s) to compute costs for labor, material, and time requirements.Evaluating labor and material costs to determine whether it is more feasible to construct electrical components or sub-contract the construction of components.Analyzing blueprints to determine conduit & wire lengthsDetermining the amount, type, and cost of major commodity materials (gear, lighting, special systems, & further type deliverables) needed for each electrical project.Determining the amount of labor required to complete each project.Determining the potential profitability of electrical projects to assist management in making sound bidding decisions.Providing viable solutions to increase project profitability.Completing and submitting competitive project bids in accordance with established guidelines.Regularly updating cost databases to accurately reflect fluctuating material and labor costs.Key Responsibilities:Prepares cost estimates from design conception to basic design as requested for project purposesExamines and reviews unusual cost records and ensures costs data is allocated correctly within the construction environmentUpdates organizational cost standards on a regular basis for new projectsTracks market prices for construction costs, equipment, material and laborSkills / Experience:Understands NEC, NFPA, UL and ISA, as related to design and documentationArea classification requirements as related to design and documentationWiring techniques, color-coding, sizing and de-rating, and insulation classificationsAble to read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, layout drawings and wiring diagrams and modify them for optimizationProficient in computer software including MS Office and estimating software (or further type estimating software)Requirements:5+ years of electrical estimating (Commercial ExperienceHands-on electrical construction experience a plusBachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction management, preferred but not requiredThe ability to interpret all blueprints drawings (not just electrical)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational skillsEffective communication skillsExceptional customer service skillsDetail-orientedCarr & Duff, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
