This translates into active involvement in a variety of activities and organizations, which provide many opportunities for education and growth for our employees.ResponsibilitiesPriorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:Process and review submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs) from the contractor throughout the pre-construction and construction phase. Maintain and store all Project documentation in electronic fashion per MTA C&D LIRR BU's established Records Management procedure. Prepare daily progress/inspection reports, meeting minutes, photographic documentation and other Project-related documents as required. Ensure the contractor satisfies quality assurance requirements and design specifications are met. Perform quality control procedures and schedule/coordinate special inspections. Ensure the contractor adheres to the requirements of Safe Work Plan and Security Plan. Evaluate construction schedules to ensure work is performed in accordance with contract requirements. Validate and monitor third-party contractor invoices for payments. Assess critical path activities and coordinate between third-party contractors, LIRR BU forces, and utility companies. Escalate concerns, events, and problems to the MTA C&D designated Project Manager, when necessary. Escalate concerns related to standard engineering and design practices to appropriate MTA Personnel and proactively execute solutions. Review shop drawings, coordinate design reviews, and arrange meetings as required with Long Island Railroad Engineering, MTA C&D, LIRR BU, and other Long Island Railroad involved departments/divisions. Attend in-person and virtual meetings, as requested, with the assigned construction contractor and MTA C&D. Meeting locations will be identified based on need. Attend Project meetings at the Hillside Support Facility offices in Hollis, NY and/or other locations at the Project CEO's discretion. Maintain Roadway Worker Protection training throughout the course of the project. Ensure stairs and ramps are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Coordinate and monitor Art for Transit efforts.RequirementsEssential Skills and Experience:A minimum of 10 years' experience managing design and construction. A Certified Construction Manager certificate. Demonstrated coordination, communication and negotiation skills. Demonstrated knowledge of various types of railroad operations. Significant experience applying railroad engineering specifications and standards. Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Roadway worker safety regulations and industry safety standards (i.e. OSHA). Proficient with the Microsoft Suite of products such as Excel, Access, Asite Word.
