Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), this position is responsible for developing and executing strategic procurement initiatives that align with the company's overall goals. By balancing cost with quality standards, the Director of Procurement ensures that the organization achieves its operational and financial targets while fostering innovation and sustainability.Responsibilities: Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement a procurement strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives. Develop a multi-source supply chain to diversify and mitigate risks with a strong emphasis on reducing cost without compromising quality.Supply Chain OptimizationManage the flow of goods to ensure optimal production and sales while minimizing excess inventory.Vendor RelationsBe the point of contact for negotiating contracts, terms, and deadlines with vendors and suppliers. Maintain strong vendor relationships, prepare/review and process contracts, formal bids, requests for qualification (RFQ), and requests for proposal (RFP).Team Leadership: Mentors the team in how to utilize advanced forecasting, replenishment and inventory optimization tools and techniques to analyze data and generate actionable insights.Cost AnalysisConduct cost analyses and set benchmarks for improvement in procurement processes.Cross-functional CollaborationCollaborate with key stakeholders for new product development, ensuring alignment with company and customer expectations.Requirements:5+ years of proven work experience as a Head of Procurement in the MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY (a buyer in a supply chain environment does not equate to procurement)• Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as dexterity in "reading" the market• Aptitude and experience in data-driven decision-making. Working with numbers, collecting, and analyzing data, generating weekly and monthly procurement reports to identify opportunities for improvement.Hands-on InvolvementBe actively involved in product/project development in a production/testing environment when needed.Physical requirements: • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer• Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times• Must be able to travel internationally
