In this role, you will develop and implement privacy and data security policies, advise on domestic and global privacy laws, and support incident response strategies.This role can be based in New York or Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, for candidates open to working in the Caribbean.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement privacy and data security policies and procedures.Draft and update privacy notices for various products and business lines.Provide guidance on domestic and global privacy laws and cybersecurity regulations.Monitor and assess global regulatory developments to ensure compliance with U.S. and international data privacy standards.Develop and support incident response, including regulatory notifications and stakeholder communications.Review vendor and third-party contracts to ensure strong data protection terms.Advise on compliance strategies to align with business priorities.Provide expertise on privacy-by-design, privacy impact assessments, and data protection reviews.Draft and review privacy-related agreements, including data protection agreements and terms of service.Handle other related legal matters as needed.About YouJ.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.Admitted to the bar in New York, Connecticut, or New Jersey, or eligible for admission.5-8 years of experience as a practicing lawyer at a top-tier law firm or in-house at a reputable financial services or technology company, with a focus on privacy and data security law.IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US or CIPP/E) preferred.Deep knowledge of global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other relevant regulations.Strong understanding of cybersecurity regulations and standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and industry-specific requirements.Proven experience in privacy impact assessments, cybersecurity incident response management, and commercial contract negotiations.Excellent legal writing and research skills.Passion for crypto and an understanding of industry risks.Self-starter and critical thinker with the ability to manage and lead multiple matters simultaneously.Willingness to adapt to a fast-moving regulatory environment and learn cutting-edge technologies in distributed cryptosystems and AI.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner across business units.Commitment to supporting the growth of a groundbreaking enterprise with precision and adherence to the highest ethical standards.CompensationBase Salary: $180,000-$220,000 USD.Potential for long-term incentives and additional benefits.Matchmakers, Not HeadhuntersWhistler Partners is a boutique matchmaking firm focused on counseling the best and brightest attorneys throughout their careers.
