Director, Tax TechnologyEmployment Type: Direct Hire/Full-TimeWorkplace Type: RemoteLocation: Los Angeles, CA (South Bay)Industry: RetailCompensation: $150,000 - $200,000SUMMARY:The Director of Tax Technology will oversee the implementation and management of tax and e-invoicing technology solutions that will support the modernization of our client's global operations for wholesale, e-commerce, and retail. Partnering with business stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives, ensure compliance with government-specific requirements, manage vendor relationships, and oversee integrations into upstream/downstream systems. Our client utilizes Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE for taxes and Edicom as our e-invoicing platform. This position does not require specific knowledge of the listed systems about, but it is essential to this role to have a strong background in tax or e-invoicing technologies and solutions.JOB FUCTIONS/DUTIES:Develop and execute a comprehensive tax technology strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements (in conjunction with our Finance and Tax teams)Lead the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of tax engines such as Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE and e-invoicing solutionsOversee the integration of tax and e-invoicing systems with other enterprise applications (ERP, Order Management Systems, POS, etc.)Ensure compliance with global tax regulations and stay abreast of changes in tax laws that impact technology solutionsProvide data for auditors and various stakeholdersDrive process improvements, automation initiatives, and efficiency gains across tax operationsManage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for tax technology solutionsLead and mentor a team of tax technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvementCollaborate with Finance, Tax, and IT teams to identify and implement technology solutions that address business needsDevelop and maintain a roadmap for tax technology initiatives, including budget planning and resource allocationEstablish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of tax technology solutionsOversee data governance and quality assurance processes for tax-related dataProvide strategic guidance on tax technology matters to senior leadershipManage audit processes and ensure the availability of required data and documentationLead cross-functional projects to implement new tax technology solutions or enhance existing onesCreate data flow diagrams, mapping documents, business requirement documents, functional specifications, ERDs, etc.Create and maintain a comprehensive documentation strategy to ensure all system configurations, processes, and procedures are properly documented and easily accessibleGather and analyze specific payload examples where issue occurred using Postman or similar toolsOther duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Equivalent experience is acceptable.7+ years of experience in tax technology, with at least 2 years in a leadership roleUnderstanding of tax engines (such as Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, Vertex, or Avalara) and/or e-invoicing solutionsStrong understanding of how global tax regulations their impact technology solutionsExperience in leading large-scale technology implementations and integrationsExcellent project management skills with experience in both Agile and Waterfall methodologiesStrong leadership and team management skillsAdvanced analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsExperience with API integrations and data managementKnowledge of SQL and data analysis toolsFamiliarity with Jira, Confluence, Excel, and AlteryxAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
