Contract (1099) Psychotherapist Position - Part-TimeSeverance is growing ... and so is our team! Our practice opened earlier this summer and has seen exponential growth during these last few months. The support has been incredible, and we are looking to continue the momentum by bringing on a clinician part-time to add some additional support. Severance is a place where clients can feel welcome, included, heard and supported on their mental health journey. In our mission to limit the barriers and obstacles to quality mental health care, our team is credentialed by insurance carriers so clients can access their behavioral health benefits, while avoiding the financial restrictions that often comes with seeking care.Severance therapists have the option to work from a virtual environment, work in-office, or a combination of both. Our focus is our client's needs and their levels of comfortability within a therapeutic setting - Depending on where you live, different regions may have varying rates depending on the cost of living and the market demand for therapy services in that area. Houston has many great therapists, but Severance stands out due to the varying academic, professional and personal experiences that our clinicians contribute to this practice.SEVERANCE'S COMPENSATIONWe believe in full transparency when it comes to income potential. Fully licensed clinicians have full autonomy in setting the rate that they feel is appropriate for self-pay. However, keep in mind our mission is to provide attainable and accessible healthcare by accepting insurance. The insurance reimbursement rates for fully licensed clinicians can range from $65 - to $130 depending on the carrier and the client's benefits. We also want to educate them about out-of-network reimbursement if the client chooses to go with us and we do not take their insurance. If you decide to do self-pay, there is no limitation to what you decide is fair for you to charge. However, keep in mind that financial barriers are often a limitation to mental health care which is an issue for many, but doesn't have to be at Severance. Group therapy costs are $75 dollars per individual for two hour topic specific meetings. 30% commission will be taken from the total cost of all individuals in attendance. For example, 8 individuals at $75 for a total of $600. After 30% commission, take home for the clinician would be $400, and would be split 50 % percent if co-facilitating. Severance will be providing the resources and office space to effectively and efficiently provide quality mental health care. In order to do so, we take the least amount of commission from the clinician that allows us to grow but pay our clinicians what they are worth. You have worked hard to be where you are, don't settle for being paid less than you deserve. Type of Arrangement:The agreement between the therapist and the practice, including whether services are offered in-person or remotely, can influence the commission structure. However, one of the perks at Severance is that you can choose the place you work from. As the team grows, there will be times when we will come together to discuss challenging cases to support one by offering different perspectives. This will typically be done in person. However, if you have a client that prefers an in-person experience, the expectation is that we will make every effort to accommodate the client based on the clinician's caseload and weekly schedule. Ultimately, successful therapeutic outcomes and client support are the goal.Severance will also begin doing groups each week. Members will choose to attend one of these four groups whose main topic changes after a certain number of time/sessions were spent on a particular subject. A client may be referred to one of these groups if the clinician feels as though it would beneficially bring value, knowledge, and perspective in a way that would be helpful. The client has the right not to attend if they do not wish too.General Information Regarding Commissions Breakdown:On average, the commission that a private practice takes from a contract therapist can range anywhere between 30% to 50% of the therapist's earned revenue from clients. Here's a more detailed breakdown of common arrangementsTypical Commission Ranges:30% to 40%: This may be the lower end if the practice is providing minimal administrative support or if the therapist is responsible for bringing in their own clients. 40% to 50%: This is more common when the practice provides substantial support, including client referrals, office space, billing services, supervision, and administrative support.FOR EXAMPLEIf a therapist charges $150 per session and the agreed commission rate is 40%, the practice takes $60 of the fee, leaving the therapist with $90 per session.Key Considerations:Experience and Specialty - Therapists with more experience or specialized skills could negotiate commissions based on certifications and licenses in different areas. You worked hard to complete these programs, so we believe that your hard work should be rewarded. Your knowledge in specialized areas is an asset to our company. Severance promotes itself as a practice that specializes in substance and alcohol use disorders, alternative addictions, impulsive/compulsive sexual behaviors, alternative relationships, sex positivity, ADHD symptom management and behavioral modification. Severance's clientele primarily consists of members in our LGBTQIA+ community who are looking for a safe space to navigate challenges that are unique to them and their life experiences. A diverse and inclusive environment where we feel welcome only enhances the therapeutic experiences that our clients have when they enter our office.Services and Amenities Provided - Some practices provide administrative support, office space, billing services, marketing, and other amenities, which can impact the commission rate. The commission rate at Severance is based on a few different factors. The platform we use at Severance encourages clients to access their insurance benefits. While onboarding, you will have the chance to get credentialed with insurance carriers that gives the clients an opportunity to utilize their benefits with one of our clinicians that are in-network. If you prefer to be self-pay, no worries! There are benefits to both approaches which can be explained in greater detail later in the hiring process.Negotiation: Therapists should negotiate commission rates based on their specific needs, the support offered by the practice, and their market value. Don't be afraid to advocate and explain why you feel your skillset translates to less commissions taken from your client sessions. Our journey's may differ in what let us to this profession, but every therapist knows the sacrifices, work, and difficulties another therapist has faced, or still faces, in this profession. To cover the costs of office expenses, program costs, and marketing initiatives, a 30% commission deduction is the lowest we can offer a contract employee at this time.Contract Details: Pay close attention to contract details regarding non-compete clauses, termination terms, and any expectations for client transfer if the therapist decides to leave the practice. During your time at Severance, we will focus on growing your caseload through the Severance brand and getting you credentialed with different insurance companies to expand accessibility to clients. Any client's acquired through Severance would be considered Severance clients. However, continuity of care is not just a client matter, it's an ethical matter. If the clinician and the client feel as though they do great work together, and the clinician decides that they have found an opportunity elsewhere that they can't pass up, we can discuss at that time whether it is appropriate for the client to continue services with the clinician.Additional Potential Costs to Consider:Some practices may also have additional fees for using certain resources or may expect therapists to contribute towards marketing or administrative costs. Our clinicians can use whatever resources are in our office for three purposes: 1) to enhance and further our own knowledge and skills using books, workbooks, podcasts, apps, etc. 2) Finding ways to connect with the client through art, games, role play, or other alternatives if client is initially new to the therapeutic environment. 3) Topic specific group sessions - 1 or 2 clinicians will facilitate a group each week in an area that clients would find value in. These could be discussions about topics that many individuals lack education in but have always been curious about.Severance Groups1) "Dark Desires'" - How the dark traits of these disorders captivate societies and cultures: psychopathy, schizophrenia, psychosis, delusions and hallucinations)2) "Wetter is Better" - discussions around sex, intimacy, infidelity, alternative relationships, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, kinks, fetishes.3) "Jekyll Can't Hide" - experiences with addiction, understanding addiction through different outlets other than the vices we are most familiar with, biopsychosocial influences.4) "I'm Coming Out" - LGBTQIA+ & Ally group to discuss personal experiences, historical and current society's influence on sexual minorities, discrimination, stigma, and hope.
