A highly regarded law firm in Washington, D.C., is seeking skilled applicants for their opening as a Diversity & Inclusion Manager. This is a contract position based out of the Washington, D.C. office, featuring a $50/hour pay rate and a hybrid schedule. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in a law firm or other professional services organization and in addition to strong writing skills.$50/hour contract pay, anticipated duration of 3-6 monthsHybrid in Washington, D.C. (50% of workdays each month will be remote)Immediate hiring needPrior experience in DEI, HR, or Talent Management in a law firm or professional services organization is preferred.8 hour workdayThe candidate will liaise with the firm's Special Events team and partner with practice group chairs (partners) and affinity groups. The candidate will determine panels, panel questions, topics, breakout rooms, etc. with guidance/approval from the Director of Diversity & Inclusion, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, and others in the D&I department. The candidate also will coordinate travel using the firm's travel department.Position responsibilities:Utilize metrics, including headcount and productivity reports, to produce data reports and analyses as requested, to include developing visual presentationsCoordinate responses to client requests and industry benchmarking surveys involving qualitative and quantitative informationManage, lead and grow affinity groups, including global programmingDevelop and manage innovative programs and policy updates, including reverse mentoring, agile working, DEI billable credit and sponsorship programsDesign and drive the formation of DEI affinity networks, including creating and managing a budgetary structure, membership campaigns, mission statements and programingManage and execute diversity-related events and trainingsManage external diversity sponsorships, to include identifying participants and coordinating all details.Drive the Firm's diversity retention and promotion efforts, and work in conjunction with the Chief Legal Talent Officer, Director of Legal Education, Director of Professional Development, Director of Associate Development and firm leadership in monitoring the performance and development of diverse attorneysAssist with the Firm's diversity hiring efforts, to include the Diversity Fellowship, and work in conjunction with the Director of Attorney Recruiting, Director of Law Student Recruiting and Legal Talent Managers to identify and maintain a pipeline of Cooley Diversity Fellows, diverse summer associate hires and diverse lateral candidatesEnsure support of and outreach to law school diversity organizationsSupport communications by drafting content for, and updating, applicable promotional materials, including print and online communicationsStrengthen partnerships with various diversity-focused organizations and publicize opportunities to diverse attorneysPartner with the Marketing and Business Development teams to manage client diversity and inclusion opportunities, partnerships and staffing requirementsInterface and create accountability around DEI efforts with attorneys across various departments and offices, including members of the Diversity CommitteeKeep abreast of industry DEI trends and best practicesCoordinate with the DEI team to develop the DEI budget, audit monthly variance reports and track department spendServe as direct supervisor and mentor to direct reportsProvide day-to-day supervision of direct reports, ensure compliance with assigned work hours and monitor for compliance with all firm and department policies. Manage staffing coverage, review and process time logs/time off requestsSupport business professional development and continued educational opportunitiesIn collaboration with immediate supervisor and CN HR, participate in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, termination and other employee lifecycle eventsAll other duties as assigned or requiredLawyers On Demand/Consilio offers non-attorney flexible talent placement rates that range from $15 to $100 per hour depending upon experience level and specific skills requested by the client, the candidate's general skill set, the applicability of candidate's skill set to client need, client budget, number of hours requested, and other factors. A specific rate of pay for a project will be discussed with you if it is determined that you are a potential fit for a role.
