Job Summary: The Commercial C&I Underwriter will be responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and underwriting commercial and industrial loan applications. This role requires a deep understanding of credit analysis, financial statement interpretation, and risk assessment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in structuring loans that align with company policies and risk appetite while supporting our clients' business objectives.Key Responsibilities:Review and analyze borrower financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow to assess creditworthiness.Conduct in-depth credit analyzes, including debt service coverage ratios, leverage ratios, and liquidity metrics.Evaluate business models, industry conditions, and economic factors that could impact borrower performance.Structure loan terms and conditions that mitigate risk and align with client needs.Prepare detailed credit memoranda with recommendations for approval, modification, or denial.Work closely with relationship managers, credit officers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary documentation and information.Participate in client meetings to gain insights into business operations and lending requirements.Communicate underwriting decisions and rationale to internal teams and credit committees.Monitor the performance of existing C&I loans, identifying and addressing potential risks.Conduct periodic reviews of borrower performance, updating risk ratings as necessary.Proactively manage loan renewals and modifications to maintain portfolio quality.Ensure all underwriting activities comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.Maintain accurate and organized records of all loan underwriting activities.Prepare reports on underwriting metrics and portfolio performance for senior management.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial underwriting or a related role.Strong knowledge of credit analysis, loan structuring, and financial statement interpretation.Proficiency in financial analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
