EXPERIENCE IN A SUPPORTING ROLE AT A GALLERY, MUSEUM, OR COMPARABLE ARTS OR ENTERTAINMENT ORGANIZATION REQUIREDWRITTEN AND SPOKEN FLUENCY IN SPANISH REQUIREDAn established contemporary art gallery in Chelsea with an international roster of artists seeks a Spanish speaking Gallery Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of contemporary art and experience in a supportive role at a gallery, museum or comparable arts organization. Strong organizational and verbal communication skills are essential. The Gallery Assistant will be precise, self-motivated, attentive to detail, efficient and have a demonstrated ability to prioritize among competing tasks.This position will be responsible for such things as gallery maintenance, visitor reception, support for the Vice President, database maintenance, as well as administrative and sales support.A bachelor's degree, as well as a background in art history, visual arts or a similar field are preferred.Responsibilities include (but not limited to):Gallery maintenance and daily supervisionOpening and closing the gallery dailyManage incoming mail and prepare outgoing shipmentsEnsure general tidiness of communal spaces and maintain suppliesGeneral logistical support (printing, filing, etc.)Visitor receptionManage gallery phone callsWelcome visitorsCreate, disseminate, and post exhibition checklists and press releasesAssist sales team with client visitsAct as support for gallery events; work with Director to plan opening eventsAlert sales staff to key visitorsSupport for the Vice PresidentAssist in scheduling appointmentsAssist in travel planning for the VPWork with VP on research and special requestsDatabase maintenanceUpdate and maintain gallery contact recordsUpdate and maintain artist CVsAdministrative and sales supportOversee gallery's book inventoryCreate sales PDFs and Private Views for exhibitions, art fairs, and personalized offersRequirements:Experience in a supporting role at a gallery, museum or comparable arts or entertainment organizationBachelor's degree, a background in art history, visual arts or a similar field is preferredFull written and spoken fluency in Spanish and English requiredFamiliarity with contemporary artPoised and friendly demeanor; comfort engaging with the publicExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work closely and cooperatively with the gallery's teamAbility to meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite required
