Work Shift:12:00 P.M - 8:00 P.MPURPOSE OF POSITION:The "WeCare" study is a collaborative randomized controlled trial between NYC H+H/Kings County, NYU, and the University of Michigan, aimed at testing a system of care for Black youth at risk for suicide. The trial combines universal suicide risk screening with an intervention that includes safety planning and strategies to improve access to mental health services. Led by the site Principal Investigator (PI) and supported by the research team, clinical staff, and leadership, the study involves conducting screenings, assessments, providing education to youth and families, delivering the intervention, and maintaining documentation.SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssesses study inclusion and exclusion criteriaObtains informed consent and assentAdminister research questionnaires and performs clinical assessmentsDelivers manualized mental health intervention in emergency room settings with fidelityCollaborates with the interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the youthProvides youth-family education, supportive counseling, and crisis intervention, as appropriate Participates in departmental cross training programs, social work meetings, performance improvement activities, and weekly study supervisionWorks collaborative with the research team and hospital staff Performs other duties as assigned by supervisorConduct projects including the collection and evaluation of data related to vulnerable patient populations and prepare and present reports related to these service populations.May provide direct clinical supervision and guidance to social work staff, schedule staff, read and review staff work, evaluate work performance and/or maintain time and leave records.This is a grant funded position.
