This position requires a highly skilled and experienced individual with a proven track record in leading and inspiring design teams to deliver exceptional results. The Design Director will oversee all aspects of the design process, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.Key ResponsibilitiesCreative Leadership and Management:Lead and manage a team of talented designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and excellence.Lead the design process from concept through completion for multiple, concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to client budgets.Oversee day-to-day studio assignments/staff utilization, project performance, work quality and schedulingDesign Strategy and Direction:Develop and implement a comprehensive design strategy that aligns with the company's overall vision and goals.Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the design and construction industry.Ensure that design solutions are innovative, sustainable, and responsive to client needs.Collaborate with the CEO to expand the firm's design services, exploring new opportunities in brand design, technology, and service diversification.Operations:Oversee the design process for multiple projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.Manage client relationships, providing regular updates and ensuring that their expectations are met.Quality Control:Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to ensure that design deliverables meet or exceed industry standards.Conduct regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback to design staff.Oversee day-to-day studio assignments/staff utilization, project performance, work quality and schedulingBusiness Development:Contribute to the company's business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and developing proposals.Participate in marketing and proposal development for new projectsRepresent the company at industry events and conferences.QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.Experience:Minimum of 8 years of experience in the design and construction industry.Proven track record of leading and managing design teams.Design and construction experience in Food and Beverage, Restaurant, Retail and Hospitality including knowledge of restaurant functionality, space planning, and equipmentExtensive experience in management and client relations.Skills:Exceptional organization and attention to detail.Exceptional design skills and a strong understanding of architectural principles.Comfortable managing teams, competing and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino and Bluebeam.Key AttributesVisionary:Ability to think creatively and strategically, envisioning innovative design solutions.Inspirational:Ability to motivate and inspire design teams to achieve their full potential.Collaborative:Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.Results-Oriented:Ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.Passionate:A genuine passion for design and a commitment to excellence.Role DetailsThis is a full-time salaried position requiring 40+ hours per week of work. Our office is located in Manhattan where all employees will be expected to work from the office Mon-Thurs. with flexibility to work from home upon managers approval.
