UPROSE Transportation Justice CoordinatorFounded in 1966, UPROSE is an intergenerational, BIWOC-led, internationally recognized community organization. UPROSE works at the intersection of racial justice and climate change through community-based planning and research, policy advocacy, popular education, organizing, artistic expression, and youth leadership development.The Transportation Justice Coordinator will work to advance equitable and sustainable transportation policies and practices that prioritize underserved and marginalized communities. This role involves community organizing, advocacy, research, and coalition-building to address systemic inequities in transportation access, affordability, and safety.This is a full-time position that provides a benefits package and professional development opportunities. UPROSE is looking for someone who can work in-person full-time Monday-Friday in our Sunset Park, Brooklyn o?ce. Salary commensurate with experience. Candidates must be able to work in a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and occasional travel. No calls or walk-ins please.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvocacy and Policy Development:Develop and advocate for policies that promote equitable transportation access.Engage with policymakers, transportation agencies, and other stakeholders to advance transportation justice.Monitor and analyze transportation-related legislation and initiatives.Community Engagement:Build relationships with community organizations, residents, and advocacy groups to understand transportation challenges.Organize public forums, workshops, and meetings to educate and involve the community in transportation justice efforts.Amplify the voices of communities disproportionately impacted by transportation inequities.Research and Analysis:Conduct research on transportation trends, challenges, and best practices to inform strategies.Prepare reports, presentations, and materials to support advocacy campaigns.Coalition Building:Foster partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and advocacy networks.Coordinate joint efforts to address transportation inequities and promote sustainable practices.Program Management:Lead projects and campaigns aligned with transportation justice goals.Track program progress, metrics, and outcomes to assess impact and effectiveness.QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Social Justice, or a related field.
