Immigration / Criminal Defense Attorney

Fort Lauderdale Law Firm focusing on Immigration Law and Criminal Defense is seeking an associate to join our team. This position includes legal research, brief and motion drafting, court appearances/trials, client interaction, and the preparation of immigration applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal writing skills. Prior court experience is strongly preferred. Prior immigration or criminal law experience is preferred. Candidates with exposure to both practice areas are strongly preferred. Florida bar required.Spanish fluency required.The ideal candidate will be a critical and creative thinker, quick on their feet, detail oriented, and someone who looks at clients as a person and not a case file. We are dealing with people's lives. Associates with up to three years of experience will be offered the position at $100,000. Associates with more than three years of relevant experience will be offered the position at $140,000. Generous fee sharing opportunities. Exceptional candidates awaiting bar results may be considered as law clerks pending results.Responsibilities:Litigate cases in court on behalf of clientsConduct legal research and analysisDraft legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, and motionsAdvise clients on legal matters and provide guidance on potential outcomesAttend hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedingsCollaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure effective case managementRequirements:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law schoolAdmission to a state bar (Florida)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAttention to detail and strong organizational skillsPrior courtroom experience is strongly preferred but not required
