Title: Senior Coastal EngineerLocation: San FranciscoJob Type: Regular Full-timeWhat's the Opportunity?Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time senior coastal engineer for our San Francisco or Irvine, CA offices to help lead our west coast project teams with coastal engineering, flood resiliency, and water resources projects. We are interested in candidates who are quick learners, detail-orientated, committed team players, and who possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. Applicants will have between 10 - 15 years of experience with coastal engineering, including hydrodynamic and/or hydraulic numerical modeling experience. Experience with coastal engineering concepts such as beneficial use of dredged material, shoreline protection, living shorelines, marsh restoration, and engineering with nature and nature-based solutions are preferred. Experience with water resources concepts such as hydrology, water quality, and dam removal are also preferred, as is proficiency using CAD, GIS, and/or programming languages, such as python.Responsibilities:Serves as the engineer supporting development and design for projects involving coastal engineering, including coastal processes, shoreline erosion protection, maintenance dredging and beach nourishment, wetland protection and restoration, and engineering with nature and nature-based solutions conceptsLeads engineering planning and design including, but not limited to, concept designs, alternative studies, basis of design requirements, construction drawings, technical reports and specifications, and construction cost estimatesProvides technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineersManages team and coordinates with client's project manager and/or technical staffDevelops client relationships, leads proposals, and contribute to the sales processAnalyzes complex problems and develops value-engineered solutionsLeads the preparation and coordination of project deliverables including construction documentsEnsures that work products are prepared in accordance with Anchor QEA's quality management programAbility to travel for field site visits and project meetings in various US locationsWhat Are We Looking For?Ideal candidates will have the following:B.S. or M.S. degree in relevant field (e.g., Coastal, Ocean, Civil or Environmental Engineering)10-15 years of experienceExperience with coastal engineering and flood resiliency evaluationsExperience with hydrologic, hydraulic, hydrodynamic, and/or water quality numerical modelingUnderstanding the application of engineering principles for engineering design, including cost estimating, and development of plans and specificationsExperience in project and program management including developing and managing scopes, detailed schedules, budgets, and sub-consultantsProficiency in MS OfficeAutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plusArcGIS experience a plusPython experience a plusCritical thinking and strong problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsA Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one within two years40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not certified)What Can You Expect?A collaborative work environment where we encourage everyone to bring their authentic self.
