Apparel Designer

Mary Square is looking for an apparel designer to join our rapidly growing team. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience and would describe themselves as a team player that is organized, efficient and passionate about designing the next season of stunning apparel. This role requires translating pattern, trend, and style to deliver our customers collections that help them look and feel amazing. This is a collaborative role that is mostly on site due to the hands on nature of handling samples including Prototypes, strike offs, and product development meetings. Job Description:Research based on Apparel Director guidance for category trend, styles and detailsProviding references and/or art files that Sourcing may require for fabric, trim etc. developmentFabric and trim sourcing collaboration with Apparel Director and Product Development managerSketching styles in Illustrator, updating as neededProficient in 3D software to provide virtual renderingsSetting up Tech Packs for costingCreating Visual Line Plan and continually updating with revised CADsReceiving protos, measuring and preparing for fittingsLeading the fittings for category protos; aligning with Tech Design on next stepsCommunicating design changes/questions with factoryUpdating the internal design team Google WIPAttending all meetings and Line Reviews for each category, and making the relevant changes to the Line PlansCompleting Production Tech Packs with full BOM etc.Advise and assist on any production, packing, display, sales or marketing needs as related to the categoryColor, Print and Texture DesignPrint and embroidery creation as they relate to owned categories, unless co-owning with another designer; reviewing with CD for revisions and approval; sending to factories, communicating follow upChoosing, reviewing with CD and submitting Lab Dip as they relate to owned categories; reviewing with CD for revisions and approvalKnowledge of timeline and dates for category, constant communication with Sourcing Manager and Tech Design on deadlines and delaysDigital and physical file management and organization for each categoryDigital and physical reference management for ongoing ideas and projects related to categoriesCollecting feedback on category products to advise on improvement for following seasons or style/program evolutionsWhat we'd like to see in you:3+ year of experience in apparel design:Proven ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including product developers, marketers, and production teams, in a highly creative and collaborative environment.Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D software, and other relevant tools as well as familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.A strong problem-solving mindset, capable of addressing design challenges with innovative, strategic solutions.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate design concepts and collaborate effectively with team members.A passion for design and creativity, with curiosity and humility that drives your desire to learn, grow, and produce outstanding work.Adaptability and resilience, thriving in fast-paced, dynamic environments and adjusting quickly to feedback or changing priorities.Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology platformsWhat You'll Get From Us:An opportunity to grow and evolve your career while working in a fun, and dynamic environment Experience working with creative and motivated peopleBCBS heath coverage401K matchEmployee product creditQuarterly Team eventsAbout Mary Square: At Mary Square, we believe in the power of community, creativity, and celebration of life's beautiful moments.
