This critical role requires a strong foundation in financial analysis and underwriting, alongside the ability to build and maintain relationships with small business clients and lending partners. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of financial acumen, operational expertise, and client-facing skills. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting small businesses and community lenders.Key ResponsibilitiesMarketplace Operations ManagementDaily Oversight: Ensure seamless operations of the LoanWell Marketplace by overseeing application workflows, tracking statuses, and proactively resolving issues.Process Execution: Implement and manage marketplace processes, ensuring alignment with internal protocols and partner requirements.Coordination: Act as a liaison between internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to maintain operational efficiency and achieve performance goals.Client and Partner RelationsPrimary Point of Contact: Serve as the primary contact for small business applicants and lending partners, providing timely updates and support.Client Engagement: Build trust-based relationships with applicants by guiding them through the application process and addressing questions and concerns.Partner Collaboration: Work closely with CDFI and non-CDFI lending partners to communicate marketplace updates, lending criteria, and applicant progress.Financial Analysis and UnderwritingApplication Review: Conduct detailed reviews of small business loan applications, assessing financial statements, credit reports, and other key documents.Credit Analysis: Analyze business financials, cash flow, and debt service coverage to assess borrower risk and alignment with lending criteria.Decision Recommendations: Leverage financial expertise to recommend approval, referral, or declination based on underwriting guidelines.Documentation Quality: Ensure all required financial documents and applicant information are collected, verified, and prepared for partner review.Pipeline Management and ReportingPipeline Oversight: Maintain a detailed and accurate pipeline of loan applications, tracking their progress through various stages of the marketplace.Performance Metrics: Monitor KPIs such as application conversion rates, average processing times, and funding volumes.Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare regular updates on marketplace performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve outcomes.Process ImprovementContinuous Optimization: Identify inefficiencies in workflows and propose improvements to enhance operational performance and client experience.Documentation: Develop and maintain SOPs to ensure consistency and scalability of marketplace operations.Collaboration: Work with product and engineering teams to suggest system enhancements that streamline operations and improve reporting capabilities.QualificationsExperience1-4 years of experience in small business lending, underwriting, or financial services.Proven track record of analyzing financial statements, assessing borrower risk, and aligning applications with lender criteria.Previous experience in client-facing roles with demonstrated success in managing relationships and resolving issues.Familiarity with small business lending and community lender operations (e.g., CDFIs) is a strong plus.SkillsFinancial Acumen: Expertise in credit analysis, business financials, and loan underwriting processes.Client-Centric: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders, including small business owners and lending partners.Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess financial documents, identify risks, and provide data-driven recommendations.Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple applications simultaneously.Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Hubspot), pipeline management tools, and financial software (e.g., Excel).Communication: Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills for engaging with clients, partners, and internal teams.EducationBachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is preferred but not required.What We OfferMission-Driven Impact: Contribute to increasing access to capital for small businesses and underserved communities.Growth Opportunities: Work in a fast-paced environment with opportunities to grow your career as we expand the LoanWell Marketplace.Competitive Compensation: We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, Unlimited PTO, 401K Matching, and professional development opportunities.Collaborative Team Environment: Join a passionate, mission-driven team committed to innovation and social impact.About LoanWellLoanWell is an automated loan and grant origination platform for community lenders, designed to deploy capital more efficiently.
