Position Description:Performs functions to manage all aspects of the sanitation operations for cooked meat and oil recovery, as well as supervises all third shift activities in the South Holland plant.Primary Responsibilities:Coordinates and/or facilitates training sessions for safety, chemical usage, and sanitation procedures for sanitation employees and other employees as needed in all locationsEstablishes standards for pre-op, post-op, and microbial and bioluminescence swabbing and directs sanitation activities to ensure standards are metEnsures compliance with the Master Sanitation ScheduleParticipates in federal and third-party food safety audits, providing corrective actions as neededMonitors and controls sanitation costs including chemicals, equipment, supplies and laborServes as liaison with on-site government officialsManages and eliminates deviations in the listeria prevention and control programParticipate in the sanitary design reviews of equipment.Leads efforts in conjunction with operation managers and the sanitation team to define and improve sanitation and food safety programsParticipates as a member of the HACCP core teamEvaluates and implements in-process and customer specificationsReports relevant KPI's and develops improvement programs to improve all applicable measuresPerforms other functions as assignedContinually improves safety performance by addressing employee safety attitudes while ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and company regulationsInitiates plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs and operate within established budgets through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, and materialsEnsures production runs in a timely manner and meets quality assurance specificationsEnsure PMs are completed on time and direct the 3rd shift maintenance supervisor accordinglyManages the operation department of Cook and Chill to assures capacity is used and maximizedManages and leads the third shift Trim Operation to ensure attainment, quality and yields are acquiredEstablishes and maintain process utilizing sanitation team members to disassemble, clean, set up and reassemble the equipment after pre-opEnsures the production floor is cleaned, pre-op is conducted and released on time for production start upSupervisory/Management Responsibilities:Manages all employee activities during third shiftSchedules and assigns work for department staff; follows up on resultsSupervises department employees in their daily activities which include: training, motivating, disciplining, and evaluating employeesMaintains department staff by selecting and orientating new employeesRequirements:Bachelor of Science degree5 + years' experience in food safety and sanitation3-5 years management experienceMechanical skill and knowledge of food processing equipmentStrong working knowledge of USDA guidelines and regulations, SSOP, and SOP requirements, HACCPWorking knowledge of micro sample collection and analysis including ability to interpret results and take corrective actionsProficient with computers and various software packagesCompetencies:Problem Solving/AnalyticalBreaks down problems into smaller components, understands underlying issues, can simplify and process complex issues, and understands the difference between critical details and unimportant facts.QualityIs attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problemsInitiative: Tackles problems and takes independent action, seeks out new responsibilities, acts on opportunities, generates new ideas, practices self-developmentCommunicationAble to articulate complex matters and talk professionally with various levels of individuals, demonstrates good listening skills, builds strong relationships, is flexible/open-mindedAction OrientedUnderstands the sense of urgency and takes appropriate actions to get things doneBenefits for this role include: Medical, vision, dental, discretionary bonus up to 18% (50% personal performance based & 50% company performance), profit sharing (which feeds retirement) at a minimum of 3% annually and 120 hours PTO in the 1st 12 months.
