Our client, a financial services firm in downtown NYC is looking for an Executive Director Level Mainframe Development Manager that will report to the CIO. This position is responsible for managing the Mainframe Development Team. The role will have a focus on maintaining the firm's platform and assisting in the migration to modern technology solutions. Qualified candidates must have 10+ years of strong knowledge and experience the software development lifecycle, including database design, modern development technologies, and processes. Excellent hands on skills with admin, troubleshooting and deployment. Experience working project management tools and creating technical specification and business requirements documents and monthly status reports to provide to Senior IT Management. This role also will need to represent the IT department in meetings with senior management to discuss requirements and communicate status and results. Previous experience working for a bank or other financial services firm in a highly regulated environment and understanding of regulatory controls, and data retention policies.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent work in an IT related field preferredRequired 5+ years RDBMS experience with Sybase with knowledge of Sybase IQ a plus.Knowledge of ETL and replication techniques.Financial industry experience (ideally with clearing experience.Experience with creating status reports for senior management.Software skills needed: Sybase, Sybase IQ, SQL, Perl, Oracle, MongoDB, MariaDB, IBM DB2, Cobol, JCL, Java, JavaScript, .NETResponsibilities: Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals.Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.Conduct weekly or bi-monthly meetings with senior management and business counterparts to report status and results of development effortsEmpower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals.Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.Development of an employee-oriented company culture.Maintain transparent communication.Plan and implement systems that perform the work and fulfill the mission and the goals of the department efficiently and effectively.
