Job Title: EstimatorCompany: PG Arnold Construction Salary: Per Offer LetterJob Location: Louisville OfficeJob Description:Summary:The Estimator is responsible for managing the estimating process from solicitation of project, to subs to project handover and to operations for contract buyout. This position will be responsible for managing the subcontractor bidder's database to ensure proper coverage for all types of projects. This position works closely with the internal project teams, ownership, and design team to align preconstruction services to the overall goal of providing the highest level of customer service and professionalism to our clients. Responsibilities:Overall:Prepare turnkey project estimates and deliverables as required by requested party.Assist project management team with project documentation on a minor basis.Manage minor special projects based on project teamsMaintain current estimating records and unit prices.Prepare subcontractor bid instructions packages.Perform all unit takeoffs for various scopes.Publication of bid solicitations to prospective sub trades.Estimating:Review and understand project documents at a conceptual and schematic levelComplete on-screen takeoff of project quantities for all divisions of work in the commercial construction industryPreparation of internal estimates based on use of historical cost information from bids/completed workComplete design review/analysis to identify value engineering opportunitiesPreparation of proposal information for clientsTransmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractorsEnsure proper coverage from subcontractors on bid dayShow creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from subcontractorsDevelop RFI's and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverageCreate bid lists that fit scope of job, ensuring the right subs for the projectThoroughly check requirements to buy the proper scopeEnsure that subs are aware of (and commit to) the project schedulePurchasing Activities:Support company operations to perform project takeoffs for materials required for self-perform work.Develop and maintain all company credit accounts for materials vendors.Research material options and procure most cost-effective options.Coordinate with company materials expeditor and General Superintendent to ensure timely delivery of materials to jobsites.General Items:Knowledge and Experience:Education: BS in Construction Management is preferred.Required Knowledge: Must be well versed in the principles and practices of construction cost estimating, conceptual budgeting and scheduling. Software Requirements: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory and familiarity with construction software such as Bluebeam, ProEstimator, ProCore, and other construction project management software is a plus. Experience Required: 2-5 years' experience as a Project Engineer, Preconstruction or estimating with a commercial General Contractor is recommended.Skills and Abilities:Strong communication skills between team members, subcontractors, and Ownership.High drive to succeed coupled with excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to coordinate with professional and sub-professional project teams. Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks to manage multiple projects concurrently. Strong computing skills to run office software packages.Work Environment:Work will be in the Louisville Office with occasional trips to project sites. Requirements:Must have a valid Colorado Driver's LicenseMust have a clean criminal record for work with educational facilities.
