NEXT Harm ReductionPosition:Fiscal DirectorCompensation:$90,000 with 100% employer sponsored health insurance and retirement account that includes up to 3% company match. Location: On site in NYC with option for flexible hybrid after 6 months contingent upon successfully learning and maintaining all fiscal functions, and providing monthly closing of individual grant billing and organizational-wide reconciliations provided to the executive director for review.Overview NEXT Harm Reduction "NEXT" is a tax exempt 501c3 organization founded in New York State in 2017. NEXT works to provide online and mail-based harm reduction resources to individuals who are unable to access in-person services. The two programs of the organization are NEXT Distro/ NEXT has experienced significant growth over the past three years and we are seeking a full-time Fiscal Director to lead finance and accounting functions. NEXT currently uses Quickbooks Online and all records are maintained electronically. Our physical office is located in New York City. This position requires a great deal of experience and understanding of QuickBooks at an advanced level. You will need to be a self starter and be able to complete all work under strict deadlines accurately. Essential Functions Ensure NEXT has the proper financial controls and systems in place to effectively grow the organization to ensure financial strength, efficiency, and sustainability Month-end and year-end close, cost allocation across all grants, revenue recognition, cash management, and management of restricted grantsMaintain general ledger and make all appropriate journal entriesBudget preparation for individual grants as well as the organization-wide budget that integrates all individual grant budgets. Grant/budget management and billing for each grant per contract. Accounts receivable. Ensure funders are keeping current with the grant billing.Timely preparation and submission of vouchers and reporting to fundersCost analysis and allocation in compliance with and across contracts which might lead to timely preparation and submission of budget modificationsUpdate allocations of expenses when there are budget modifications or new funding streams receivedMonthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting to organizational leadership, must keep management proactively apprised on all fiscal mattersPay and allocate across grants vendor invoices through check, online banking or other electronic platformsRequirementsThis position has access to highly sensitive information and a clean background check will be required. This position may require bondingMinimum of 10+ years successful non-profit financial management experience in positions with increasing responsibility, strong accounting, experience with audits and government fundersMinimum of 10+ years experience with QuickBooks Online, specifically with fund accounting and or non-profit accounting using a classing system to track each grant separately.Minimum of two full audits, working with auditors, preparing year end closing adjusting entries for AR, AP, Prepaid expenses as well as recording of restricted fund balances for grants. Advanced excel experience and the ability to prepare grant budgets and analysis of various expenses for the auditHigh-level knowledge of GAAP for non-profit accounting and understanding of non-profit compliance requirementsTimely responsiveness to all inquiries from both inside the organization and outside with fundersAbility to present financial information clearly and concisely to people with low levels of financial knowledgeReliable and trustworthy, ability to effectively communicate verbally and through phone/emailExperience in a multistate/national organization a plusAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionPeople having personal or family experience with drug use, criminal (in)justice involvement, homelessness, and/or sex work; people of color, women, and members of the LGBTQIA+ communities; and people living with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C are strongly encouraged to applyThis position has access to highly sensitive information and a clean background check will be required.
